Patisserie Menu

Last Sunday, I went to Ceci-Cela Patisserie in Nolita (North of Little Italy) for breakfast. I got a cup of cappuccino and an almond croissant, and sat outside on a bench in front of the cafe. While eating my breakfast, I saw this menu printed on the wall connecting the cafe to the store next door. I took a photo of it because I love the colors and typography. It reminds me very much of Provence, south of France.

To see a photo of me after I finished the croissant, click here to the Making of NYC DP.

So what would you order for breakfast if you were at this cafe?

This is pure poetry to me. :)
And you are right, they were definitely going for a provençal look. How was your croissant??

belle photo qui m'ouvre l'appétit ce matin. Quand je suis à NYC, c'est l'inverse, je suis coockies et bagels ;o)

beautiful photograph which opens the appetite to me this morning. When I am with NYC, it is the reverse, I am coockies and bagels; O)

And these words are so nice told with an American accent...I do like little financiers!

I'd have pain au chocolat (with TWO sticks of chocolat please) and a coffee, and discuss my investments with my personal financier!! LOL

I visited the South of France over the summer & you are so right about the colors!

I'd probably pick the same as you for breakfast--love almond crossants!

Non-fat, two-Splenda, extra-hot latte. . . .If they had no-sugar cream cakes (real cream donuts), I'd have one of those. . . . .

Great colors!

I would have a croissant and a latte or cafe au lait and sit by the window watching the world go by and read a paper! Would be a perfect sunday morning! Hope you are well. Seen and SATc Movie being made?

Ummm, decadent French treats, but what's with the financiers? Maybe it's a pastry I'm not familiar with, stuffed with euros or old francs. Maybe it's just so expensive (as anything can be in New York) that you have to be a financier to afford one.

By the way, this place is a pretty long subway ride for you just to go to breakfast!

One of everything, please. On second thought, seconds to take home, too.

Financiers!?

is it a joke or a mis-spelling of some special delicacy?

I had to look up Financiers - I thought they were people who loaned you money!

I'd order a small strong espresso with milk on the side and a sugared brioche.

Hey, Ming. . .The hotel in which you stayed is Opryland Hotel. . .still there and still has the botanical garden in the atrium. I'll have to hike over to that side of town in the near future.

Where in the south did you attend college?

Hahaha...I need to find a translator dictionary to know what is financier. If I order the croissant, chocolat, and brioche - maybe I could get a financier to "finance" my bill :P

I had to find out what a financier is too. It is essentially a cupcake.

I'd have to have a flaky, buttery croissant myself. I really like this photo, and it's great to see you reflected in the window. Neat-o!

A soy hot chocolate and plain croissant for me please....although soy isn't very Parisian of me is it.

Thanks for the photo of you enjoying the delicacies - now I know who to look for!

Will contact you next week when I'm in town - looking forward to it....although not so excited about the 28 hour flight :o(

See you soon!!!!!!!!

Oh my God !!! I was working there until July !!! So weird to see a picture of it now. My advice: have the almond chocolate croissants. They're sooooo adictive (I used to have one every day when I was working there !)
