Central Park Benches 4

Last month, I posted a three-photo series on Central Park's benches - on April 15, April 16 and April 17. Personally, I am fascinated by these benches because they are so different and yet so similar. A lot of the different designs and materials used are based on when they were installed in the park.

Here is another set of benches lining both sides of the Literary Walk in Central Park. These are pretty old they are made almost entirely of wood and brass (or iron). The walk stretches for 6 blocks from 66th Street to 72nd Street. It is one of the most photographed scenes of Central Park.

Hey Ming,
was a scene from 'Maid in Manhattan' shot there? Don't judge me if i'm too far off, My Geography has never been any good! HA!HA!
This is a nice area to sit and ponder and just watch passers-by.

A classic New York shot - I love it! And I really like the perspective you chose along the benches. I never would have thought to do that. (And I never knew it was called literary walk before.) Great photo!

stunning, and romantic in a way...I am feeling dreamy just looking at them.

Amazing photo! What immediately caught my eye was the contrast of the very straight lines and the winding grain of the wood.

I always love your bench pictures!

Hi Ming, you asked about how long the commute was for the people who live on the hill overlooking the Arkansas River. Believe it of not, probably not more than 30 minutes at the longest. LR is a small enough city that one can get most anywhere pretty quickly.

this reminds me of that coffee table book of the different manhole covers in NYC. you could do a book of benches!

I love your Central Park benches series. Will look at everything in so much more detail during my next visit to NY. Thanks for opening my eyes to the beauty that most of us don't notice ;o)

You have my vote. In fact, I opened an account just so I could vote for you.

BTW, I've sat on those benches so many times I've probably worn off the paint in a spot or two.
