Egyptian Wing

This is the view of Central Park and the Upper East Side from inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art at The Temple of Dendur wing. The floor to ceiling glass windows provide some of the best views and spaces at the museum.

    I have a new favorite museum, and that's The Metropolitan! I can't say enough about how pleasingly arranged it is. It compelled me to really look at the art, and I found I didn't get burned out as quickly as I usually do in big museums and just start skimming. I love museums of almost any kind, especially art, cultures, and natural history, but I can't seem to take in a lot at one time. Somehow the displays at the Met overcame that. It may be innovative displays like this room that made the difference, along with the quality of the pieces, but honestly, all the rooms were outstanding, and I'm still trying to figure out what made the difference. If anyone is in NY, don't miss it!

    I love being inside museums... I feel more relaxed and sort of reaching higher levels of concentration

    I love museums that aren't too big, like the Frick Collection or the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia.

    Unlike teahouse, I love big museums like the Met and the Louvre, where you can find all types of art from a wide range of periods.
    See how relaxed all these folks here seem to be? I feel the same way in that particular space—how about you, Ming?

    Love the big museums - just wander, get lost, explore a new wing or exhibit. Next time in NYC -to the Met.

    That is Jackie O's apartment building in the background. Was that done on purpose, or were you not aware? I ask because Egypt gave the Temple to the U.S. in recognition of the Kennedy administration's concern about the preservation of such things. Jackie was there the day it was given to the U.S. You can see the windows to her bedroom at the point on the very right just before the first setback in the building.
