This is another photo taken at the Queens' St. Patrick's Day Parade. The young fellow is dressed as a Leprechaun, which is an Irish fairy known for its mischievous attics. St. Patrick's Day is traditionally celebrated on March 17 by people of Irish descent all over the world. On this day, people adopting everything green from green clothes to green food.
The biggest St. Patrick's Day parade is held in New York City (Manhattan) where over 2 million spectators and parade marchers walk down 5th Avenue.

dsole - No, it is not a school holiday. But this year, March 17 falls on Saturday so there will be a huge crowd at the Manhattan St. Pat's Day parade.
jilly - I think they are all guys/male. I could be wrong. :-)
per stromsjo - The parade is Queens is especially diverse because there were representatives from different racial groups, gays & lesbians, community organizations, etc. The Manhattan St. Pat's Day parade is notoriously non-inclusive. So prejudice does exist here too.

Natalie - No, these photos are from the smaller, local parade. The BIG one in Manhattan will be on March 17.
