This is the apartment stoop of a very nice townhouse in the East Village. Notice the gate under the staircase. The gate leads to a basement apartment of the building, which are fairly common here in New York.
Hope you all have a good weekend.
Welcome to the city that never sleeps!

Oh, so beautiful! I used to live in a basement apart on Chelsea - under the stairs, as it were. Friends called it the 'place under the sea.' I couldn't live in a basement now - think I'd find it claustrophobic, unless it opened onto a garden, of course. Fat chance.
So nice!! Were the basement appartments rather for kitchen, servants etc. like in London?
Ca, c'est New york!
It's a Carrie Bradshaw stoop!!! Speaking of SATC check out my Carrie inspired bag on my Blog! Hope the sun is shinning in Mahattan!
It's always a pleasure to discover your beautiful photos, Ming!
Every day I enjoy a little bit of New York City!
Have a nice Sunday as well!
This is very special. I like all the wrought iron work.
Thanks for your comment and visit to my bird blog.

Hey Ming,
As i saw you're back from your hollidays...I hope they were great ! I'm going to NY in september with my family and I think you can help me with something. I'm looking for a wonderful rooftop restaurant, i'd like to have a wonderful view of the city at night ! So if you know one just tell me...
Thank You so much...
Vincent
I've seen them in Boston too. I guess they are common in the East Coast?
Beautiful design.I like it.
Vincent - Here is a list of restaurants with rooftop dining.

Most of these are either hotel rooftops restaurants or rooftop bars. The only one I have heard of is Sushi Samba 7, which is very Sex & the City type of restaurant & bar.
E-mail me if you need more information.
Classy!!! Beautiful.
Thanks for coming by, my husband is still pretty sore (in pain!) & i will pass on the happy birthday wishes to my mom:) Thanks:)
I do like this stoop - it almost looks like the front of some rich guy's mansion;) LOL
Glad to see the well preserved iron work here.
It's always rewarding (for you and us) to seek out the "series" opportunities. It opens your eyes, doesn't it.
Stairs seem they need to be climbed... Are them?
