According to the New York City government website, we have 10 sister cities around the world. They are Tokyo (inducted in 1960), Beijing (1980), Madrid (1982), Cairo (1982), Santo Domingo (1983), Rome (1992), Budapest (1992), Jerusalem (1993), London (2001), and Johannesburg (2003). The only sister city I have visited in the last year or so is Beijing, China. I think it interesting that cities have multiple sister cities. Do they get bored and find a new one? or do they just feel the need for more and add some? or do they fall out with each other and find a different one? It's like middle school romances i think. Well, NYC had great ones.... all 10! Your photo of Beijing is great. Bet that was a nice visit for you.

Wow, it's hard to believe Seattle has 23 sisters and NYC only 10. Seems backward, given the respective size and prominence of each city.
Were you there,Ming? I was there several days ago, and took plenty of photos of the forbidden city although I've been there for three times, I still need a map to find my way out...

Two great and powerful cities - and quite a collection for NEw York. I went to Beijing in 1978. It has changed considerably! (well unrecognisably)

ah, I've yet to visit Beijing, but would LOVE to. I've been to Shanghai and a few other cities in China, and I imagine the capital city is incredible.

I do like your photo, Ming. I've never been to China, but would love to visit. One of my husband's reporters (well, ex-) was there for Olympics as his father still lives there.
