Purple & Yellow

This photo was taken at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) garden last weekend when the weather was absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, it's been raining non-stop all week and I am running out of photos to post. If you click on the MoMA link above, you will see a patch of purple flowers on the lower half the photo, on the right of the water fountain. This is the close-up shot of that flower patch.

So what are you plans for the weekend?

Ranunculus Bloom

Here is a macro shot of a ranunculus bloom from one of the flower vendors at Union Square. Spring is finally here and there are rows and rows of flower vendors at the market now.

So do you have a favorite flower?

Spring is Blooming

I was at Central Park last weekend and flowers and trees were blooming everywhere. It's so refreshing to see colors again. It has been a long, cold winter for us in NYC.

So where would you go to see Spring flowers bloom?

Yellow Blooms

I don't know what type of blooms these are but they have beautiful intense yellow flowers and soft green buds on them. There was a table full of them at the green market at Union Square yesterday. This is a macro shot of the blooms.

I would like to wish all mothers out there a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY.

Spring Bloom

I was at the Union Square Green Market yesterday and saw this beautiful bloom at one of the booths selling flowers and fruits. I switched my camera into macro mode and managed to shoot about 12 photos. This was the most perfectly focused and composed photo of the lot.

So are you waiting for spring to arrive?

Hydrangea Blooms

I was out in the city this afternoon and saw a hydrangea bush outside a building. Not all the blooms have opened yet and I noticed this particular batch has three stages of growth. There are the little buds and new blooms in the middle the fully open flowers on the edges.

I love hydrangeas especially the pale green colored ones. I also love parrot tulips and bourganvilleas. But for beautiful aroma, nothing beats the scent of peonies.

What are your favorite flowers?

La Vie en Rose

The rose bushes outside my apartment building are in full bloom this week. I guess it is a good sign that the summer is here. I played with the macro feature on my camera and managed to get a couple of good shots of the blooms.

Disclaimer: I did not plant nor nurture the rose bushes in the photo. The building gardener did all the work.

If you love macro shots, please check out L'heure Bleue's blog. She has an amazing photo of a morning dew drop sitting precariously on a leave of a rose bush.
