Bibimbop

This is Bibimbop, a popular Korean dish that I love and order every chance I get. It is basically a cold dish made with a mixture of raw and/or lightly stir-fried julienned vegetables, a fried (or raw) egg and ground beef (optional). And it is usually served with rice and some spicy sauce.

This post is for Chuckeroon of Richmond upon Thames Daily Photo because he likes my food photos.

So can you identify the ingredients in the big bowl?

Appetizers @ Natural Tofu

These appetizers are from a wonderful Korean restaurant called, Natural Tofu on Queens Boulevard between 40th and 41st Street. I love the place so much that I eat here about once a week. I usually get the spicy tofu soup (sondubu) with rice and these appetizers (panjan) are free.

So have you ever had Korean food?

Korean Dumplings (Mandoo) Bar

This photo was taken at Mandoo Bar, a Korean dumpling restaurant in Koreatown on 32nd Street between Broadway and 5th Avenue. The dumplings are filled with a variety of meats and vegetables, including kimchi (fermented/pickled cabbage). I am a huge fan of Korean food and kimchi is an acquired taste for me.

So what taste have your acquired?

Unidentified Fried Chicken (UFC)

A couple weeks ago, New York Magazine did a story on Korean Fried Chicken (the new KFC) and Unidentified Fried Chicken (UFC) in Jackson Heights, Queens was listed as the best restaurant. So earlier this week, I stopped by UFC to get some Korean fried chicken take-out.

Here is a photo of the restaurant. I ordered the soy-garlic and the spicy mustard flavored chicken and they were delicious.

What is your favorite fast food?

Korean Cuisine

I love Korean cuisine and my favorite Korean dish is the spicy tofu and seafood stew, which is especially delicious during the cold winter months. Another reason I love Korean food is the appetizers or side dishes that are served with every meal called, banchan. These little morsels of meat, seafood or vegetable dishes are served tapa-style and they can be spicy, sweet, salty, crunchy, soft, or chewy.

This photo was taken last week at my favorite neighborhood Korean restaurant called, Natural Tofu. It is one of the many banchan that came with the meal. I do not know the name of this dish but it is a type of black beans that have been deep fried, tossed with a sweet barbeque sauce and sprinkled with sesame seed. Yummy!! If you love asian food like I do, you should check out Singapura Daily Makan Photo by Keropokman who blogs Singapore Daily Photo.

So tell me about your favorite food. What do you like to eat?
