Free Tibet Rally

I saw this Free Tibet rally at the southern end of Union Square on my way home from an alumni function in the city last night. The function went well and we ate some great southern food -- cajun gumbo, fried catfish, popcorn shrimp and hushpuppies.

Interestingly enough, it was an unexpected reunion for me and two friends whom I went to graduate school with over 10 years ago. The last time we were all in a room together was in March 2005 when we all met up (again, unexpected) in Basel, Switzerland.

So have you been to an alumni function lately?

The Art of Elysium Benefit

A friend of mine invited me to a party to benefit The Art of Elysium, a non-profit organization that provides workshops in arts, music and design for children who are battling serious illnesses. The party, hosted at Milk Studio in the Meatpacking District, a trendy neighborhood north of Greenwich Village, was fun and exciting. I saw some beautiful art, like the silk screen of David Bowie in the photo above, ate some good food and met some new friends.

So when was the last time you went to a nice party?

Nautica Jeans Girls

I was invited to the Nautica Live N Jeans party at Metro 53 last night. The party, co-sponsored by Nautica Jeans Co. and ESPN, was organized to launch the new N Series Jeans.

These Nautica Jeans girls from the party were nice enough to pose for me. They were there to help party goers (including me) select the correct size jeans for our swag bags. There were also delicious finger food and free beer. And fun was had by all!!

NB: Sorry for the grainy photo. There was not a lot of light in the bar.
