Here is another scene of Time Square at night. I took this photo on the same night as I did the Light Stairs photo, which I posted earlier this week. The chairs and tables on this plot of triangular space is new too.

Lighted Stairs

The stairs you see here are actually the roof of the new TKTS booth at Time Square. [Click here to see the architect's rendition of the structure.] This photo was taken last night after I had dinner with Chuck of One A Day - Mostly Seattle and his wife, who are in town for a couple of days.

I took the camera out of my bag last weekend because it was low on battery and I forgot to put it back this morning when I left for work. So this photo was taken with my iPhone and it is totally unedited. Of course, I took over a dozen or so photos to get this one decent one.

Broadway Shows

These advertisements for Broadway shows at the Time Square subway station list some of the more successful shows playing in the city. The tickets to these shows are usually hard to come by because they are sold out weeks in advance. There are also many other less famous and cheaper productions of Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway shows that can be just as entertaining and fun.

Time Square on the eve of New Year's Eve

Time Square is one of the few places in New York City where traffic congestion, both vehicles and humans, is a given. The situation worsens on New Year's Eve when 750,000 revelers congregate here to watch the giant crystal ball drop at 12 midnight. Some people even start staking out the best spots to watch the celebration at 8 AM on the morning of the event, 16 hours before the ball drops. This photo of Time Square was taken on the eve of New Year's Eve (Dec 30). As you can see, the energy of the celebration has already begun.
