Mid-Month Photo Theme: Subway Train

Per Strömsjö of Stockholm by Pixels and I decided to create an impromtu mid-month theme of subway train photos. So here is my contribution to the effort -- the New York City subway train.

Great shot, I wonder how that rushing train would sound... Cheers from Stockholm.

This is almost funny...I was teaching transportation terms to my beginning English speakers this evening and was having a devil of a time explaining "subway". I should have waited for your post!

Hey Ming! So glad to have you back in NY, although I loved your holiday pics too.

The subway is sooooo NY. Had a bit of trouble using it last time I was there though - Nathan and I were trying to get from Greenwich to Midtown but ended up waaaaaaay off track at about 11 o'clock at night! We're not the world's best map readers :oP

We're in NY early October. Would love to catch up for lunch.....so long as the sandwiches are smaller than those you photographed a few posts back!!

And I'll have lots of gossip on Carol....mainly about how great she is :o)

It is odd, to a person living around cows and cornfields, in a drought, that the man doesn't even notice the passing train.

Nice angle.. If it's clearer, it would be perfect. :) But I really like it.

Have a nice day!

OK! So who's going to take the weekly photo theme? Fast shot, Ming! Love the sense of speed...

Wooawhh.. would you say that's as fast as a speeding bullet?, ;o)
I've never asked you I think, but what camera do you use and is it a DSLR?

Carol - I use a little Canon PowerShot. Small, simple and automatic. :-)

Great fun, Ming!

The station looks a bit worn down, Ming ? I guess that maintenance is a bit behind, eh ?

Ming the Merciless said...

Yes, the NYC public transport system is really old (some were built 100 years ago) and the MTA is doing a poor job of keep it clean and working.

Last week, heavy rain caused flooding in the tunnels and horrible disruptions in the subway system.

Bernt Seipl said...

Flooding in the tunnels is something I wouldn't want to experience locked up in a subway-train and nowhere to go.

As a matter of fact that is a (hopefully remote) risk in Stockholm as well. Parts of the network are below sea level.
