Cherry Hill Fountain

This is the Cherry Hill Fountain on the west side of Central Park near Strawberry Field. The buildings in the background are mostly apartment buildings on Central Park West. The flowers in the background are cherry blossom, I think.

So do you have cherry blossoms in your city?

Is Spring Here Yet?

I took this photo yesterday at the promenade by the Rockefeller Center on 50th Street off of 5th Avenue. The weather was almost 60°F (15°C), which was probably the warmest day of the year so far. The greenery planted around the fountains gave a hint of Spring coming but we are expecting another cold front and snowy weather this weekend.

So are you ready for Spring? I am having Spring Fever!!

Fishing in the Bethesda Fountain?

I saw this guy wading inside the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park last weekend. At first, I thought he was a homeless person fishing for spare change but he kept walking around the same area looking for something very specific, like someone who had dropped an expensive diamond ring in the fountain. The weather was really cold that morning so I can only imagine how it feels to be wet and cold at the same time.

So what do you think he's looking for in the fountain? His youth, perhaps?

I am REALLY tall today

I was standing on the edge of a dry fountain on the north end of Madison Square Park when I took this photo. I look positively tall here but alas, it was only my shadow.

So if you could choose, would you rather be taller or slimmer?

Coin Fountain

This photo was taken at one of the fountains at Rockefeller Center. It seems like people were tossing coins into the fountain hoping their wishes would be granted. I tossed some Italian liras into the Trevi Fountain when I was a 10-year old boy. My wish was to visit Rome again in the future. So far, the wish hasn't come true yet.

So have you ever tossed a coin into a fountain and made a wish?

Hot Summer Day

Sunday afternoon was warmer than usual so after a nice brunch in the Village, I walked by Washington Square and saw a large group of people hanging out by the fountain. Most of them were basking in the sun but some dipped their feet in the water while a few college kids played under the fountain spray.

I took my shoes off and gingerly dipped my feet into the cold water. Aaaah....it felt like heaven. With my feet in the fountain, I sat back and leisurely read my book entitled Vroom with a View by Peter Moore, recommended by Belinda of Bel's Fish Bowl.

To see a photo of me in the fountain, click here.

So do you have any recommendations or tips for cooling down during a hot day? Or to warm up during a cold day (for those in the Southern Hemisphere)?
