This glass and steel structure is the Trump Tower where The Apprentice is taped every season. The interesting thing about this architecture is that there are numerous terraces on the middle floors with trees planted on them.

Bird in a Gilded Cage

This little bird is trapped inside a gilded cage, otherwise known as The Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan. The 4-storey high atrium/space has shops and restaurants and somehow, this bird got itself trapped inside it. A lady placed some bread crumbs on the railing and the bird swiftly flew down to gobble them up. I only managed to get one good shot of this event.

Urban Oasis

New York City had its warmest winter in history last December followed by some of the coldest months in January and February. The two extremes in weather conditions should make us pause to think what is happening on Mother Earth.

The cold temperature in the city has moved most social activities indoors and one of the most interesting places to enjoy a cup of coffee while catching some rays of sunshine is inside the Trump Tower atrium located on the corner of Madison Avenue and 56th Street. The glass and steel structure is temperature controlled and bathed in bright sun light from outside. Dozens of tables and chairs are arranged around art installations and 10-foot (3-meter) bamboo patches inside the atrium. Entrance is free but most importantly, there is a small coffee shop here where you can get your caffeine fix under the sun.

In the future, will we all live in an enclosed environment like this? Are you doing anything to reduce energy consumption or limit environmental pollution?

Christmas Tree @ Trump Tower

This Christmas tree sits in front of a 5-storey waterfall at the atrium of Trump Tower. The building, completed in 1983, is located on 56th Street and 5th Avenue in Manhattan and was one of the first luxury condominiums built in the city.

Prior to that, the most desirable and luxurious properties in the city were coops. Condominiums were considered "middle class housing" although middle class in Manhattan is not middle class at all. In addition, coop properties provide owners with stricter control over who can and cannot purchase an apartment in the building.
