Royal Enfield

I saw this vintage Royal Enfield motorcycle parked outside the Barneys Departmental Store on 60th Street between Madison and 5th Avenue. Apparently, I wasn't the only one who gave it a second look. The guy on the right thought it was a pretty cool bike too.

So do you know how to drive a motorcycle?

Motorcycle @ Kiehl's Store

This is one of four or five motorcyckes inside the Kiehl's store in the East Village. Kiehl's is a NYC company that sells really nice hair care and body products.

So do you know how to ride a motorcycle? I don't but I hope to one day.

Vespa Lock

I was walking down Lafayette Street in the East Village when I saw this interesting lock mechanism on the Vespa's handle. Vespas have always fascinated me and I have professed on this blog my fantasy of owning one one day and cruising down the street (of the Amalfi Coast in Italy, perhaps) on it. Hopefully, my dream will come true soon.

In the photo, you can see my reflection on the back of the mirror. I have just bought a copy of the September 2008 issue of Vanity Fair with Carla Bruni-Sakorzy on the cover and was trying to juggle between holding the camera and the magazine while taking this photo.

So what magazine have your read lately? Do you have a favorite?

My Vespa Fantasy

I have a fantasy! In it, I ran away to the Amalfi Coast, rented a little villa by the sea and bought a Vespa, like this one in the photo above, to zeep around town. The strange thing is despite my fascination with the Vespa, I don't know how to drive a motorcycle. Maybe one day, I will have the courage to run away to Italy and learn to ride the bike.

Vespas have become very popular in New York City in the last five years or so. A lot of yuppies are buying them because they are a cheap and convenient mode of transportation in this compact city. There are even Vespa Clubs where members meet regularly at cafes to talk about their bikes.

If you could run away, where would you go?
