It is mid-month subway theme day again. This photo was taken at the Times Square/42nd Street subway station. The station is one of the biggest and busiest in the city with connecting lines for the N, W, R, Q, 1, 2, 3, 7 and 9 subway trains. It is also adjacent to the New Jersey PATH stations (subway service to New Jersey) and a block from the Amtrak tand other regional train services at Pennsylvania Station.Friday, May 15, 2009

Mid-Month Subway Theme
This is one of the subway entrances to the B, D, F, V and 7 trains at Bryant Park on 42nd Street between 5th and 6th Avenue. The white tents in the background are where the New York Fashion Week shows are being held this week. This month, we have a new addition to our subway theme family. Please welcome Mo of Fresh Eyes on London.

Mid-Month Subway Theme
It's mid-month subway theme day again and this week's subway photo was taken at the 5th Avenue Station on 59th Street, on the southeast corner of Central Park. As you exit the subway station and walk up to the street level, Central Park will be right there.

No Bikes Allowed
The little sign on the railing clearly stated,"No Bikes Allowed" and yet there are two bikes leaning on it with a third parked in front of the other two. So is happening here? This is actually an impromptu site for a bicycle rental service at Columbus Circle by the exit of the subway station. Ever since the city added bike lanes onto most major avenues up and down Manhattan, bike rental businesses (for tourists) have been popping up everywhere.

Waiting for the Train
Today is October 15, which means it is another subway theme day. This photo was taken at the Union Square subway station when I was waiting for the train to go home last weekend. The people you see in the photo are waiting for the downtown train while I was waiting on the other side for the uptown train.

Subway Skylight
I was invited to an open house party at the Upper West Side yesterday afternoon. I have to admit, in the 10 years that I've lived in NYC, I can count on my hands and feet the number of times I've visited this neighborhood. No, it is not because it is not a safe area; on the contrary, it's a very desirable yuppie neighborhood. The main reason I rarely visited the Upper West Side was because it takes two train changes to get there from Queens.
