The Triborough Bridge was named so because it connects the three boroughs of New York City -- Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx. The river under the bridge is Hell's Gate, a strait on the East River where a tragedy happened in 1904. Another bridge, the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) bridge is located just right out of sight on the right of this photo.This photo was taken from the Queens' side of the Triborough Bridge in Astoria.
