Takashimaya is one of the most exclusive and expensive departmental stores in New York City. While researching the information for this post, I found out that Takashimaya does not have a US-based website. The only store site I could find in English was for Singapore Takashimaya.
Takashimaya is a large Kyoto-based retail store that has outlets all over Japan, as well as in Taipei, Paris, Singapore, and New York City. It was founded in 1829 by Iida Shinshichi. The store specializes in obscure designer brands for apparels, cosmetics, accessories, and home furnishings.
This photo was taken inside the store's floral department on the 1st floor of the building. Aside from floral arrangements, it also sells garden ornaments, decorative and utilitarian vases, tools, and books and cards with botanical themes.

Oh how beautiful! Looks like Spring has arrived in New York with those flowers.
Thanks for passing by the Menton and Monte Carlo DP blogs.

This is an interesting post since I spent three years of my life in Japan when the nation was rebuilding. It has come a long way and would have been impossible, back then, to imagine their automobile, Toyota, being number one in auto sales in America, or your Takashimaya Florist shop could exist anywhere except Japan. Times have changed a lot.
And, by the way, I wanted to say, "Thanks," to you for your visits to my blog and for the comments you make and have made. I am new here, as you already know, and it is taking me a while longer to get around to everyone. I admire your work and hope you can continue to come up with interesting stories about your city.
I don't know Takashimaya shop but your photo tells me i might do! And after reading Abraham's comment, i can say Toyota sells many many cras in France too (mine, just for example!)
A lovely colourful photo. I must admit I've never heard of Takashimaya either though I do drive a Toyota:)

The Takashimaya in Singapore has nice bouquets of flowers too! Fresh flowers too!
Our family likes to shop there. It helps that we have their store card, and get pretty good rebates hahaha...
You have a wonderful blog. May I ask where is Takashimaya in New York? I am going there this weekend and I wanted to drop by there.
Thank you
Sue
sue - Takashimaya is on 5th Avenue, between 53rd or 54th Street. You can't miss it. It is near Rockefella Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and the original Sak's Fifth Avenue.
Have an enjoyable trip. I think it is going to rain tonight through Saturday.
Thank you Ming. Will bring an umbrella
