Art or Lamp?

I saw this lamp sculpture outside a Mexican restaurant in Astoria, Queens. I was totally fascinated with the wrought iron work and distinctive southwestern design. I also love colors on the wall.

Does anyone know much about Mexican or southwestern art?

I don't know anything whatsoever about this art but I really like the look of this. Is it huge?

Very attractive. I especially like how the thing evokes the sun, form following function?

Pat - Yes, it is huge. It is probably 5 feet in diameter. And it's installed outside of the restaurant about 8 feet above the ground.

Don't know much about Mexican or Southwestern art, but this sure looks like an artistic lamp piece. Does it light up during the night?
