Happy Mother's Day

First off, I would like to wish every mothers out there a very HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY.

This photo of a pink magnolia tree is only a few blocks from my apartment. Unlike the white magnolia tree that was in my grandmother's garden, this variety does not give off any scent or perfume but it does produce enough blooms to cover the entire tree.

Since I began taking photos for this blog, I noticed that I have become more curious about plants and flowers than ever before. I would stop on the street, at the park or in a store just to admire a flower or a plant. I guess this blog has made me stop to smell the flowers.

How has your daily photo blog changed you?

Wow it's really nice! I wished I could live there and die there. I love seeing this kinda trees with pink flowers, like cherry blossom in Japan. But I've never seen it yet.

DP has changed me quite alot, I would say. I've become more observant than ever. Like when I pass by a beautiful building, I'll just stand there still, for 5 minutes just to look at it with my eyes which fulled with admiration.

I took a photo of a tree similar to yours but haven't posted it yet. Looks nice.

I'm a mother of two, so thank you, Ming! Mother's Day will be in two weeks for French mothers.
Have you notice that this kind of magnolia gets its flowers first, before its leaves? I think the one you know in your grandmother's garden keeps its thick and glazed leaves all year long. And you're absolutely right, my eye became sharper with my dp blog ("what would they see that i don't see anymore around me?")Have a good Sunday!

I'm rather new in the 'daily family' but for me, taking photos has changed my way of 'seeing' the things around me. I look at everything more intense and I see things, forms, details that I have never seen before.

A wonderful magnolia tree. Here it's time of the rose blossom, rather early this year ...

Thanks Ming,

I had a really wonderful Mother's Day. I could'nt ask for more beautiful children. They are my pride and joy and I thank God for them everyday. Watching them grow has been the single most rewarding experience of my life.

Love your photo of the pink magnolias!

A really nice tree with beautiful flowers -- a tribute to mothers. I like you narrative too.

I have celebrated this day, Mother's Day in my country, with a magazine cover for my wife. I hope you can see it.

Nice picture of a beautiful pink tree! The beautiful jacaranda trees are already blooming here in Lisbon (it’s a very short but wonderful event), so if one day I’ll have enough time to commit myself to a Lisbon Daily photo I will show them...
Happy Mothers day for those who celebrate today!

Since acquiring a digital camera, and starting a blog, I've become much more observant of the world around me. And I stop and take photos all over the place, whereas I would never do that with my old film camera.
My Mother's Day has been postponed till tomorrow when my wonderful boys and their lovely ladies are taking me (and The Space Cadet) out to dinner and then to Toronto Blue Jays vs Baltimore Orioles baseball game. Lucky me!

First of all I noticed that mother's day is in different date (but not too far each from others) country to country and this it's quite odd in my point of view. -- Then yes, DP changed a bit my way to watch my city. Honestly speaking I ever watched at it but since I started DP I cannot go out without my compact camera and, time on time, especially at night, I go out with other camera to take it at better :-)

I like your blog...forces us to stop and seek out beauty. An aesthetic sense (which can contribute, IMHO, to tranquility) is something that is not usually nurtured in this country.

Have you made postcards out of your pictures before to send to family and friends? I am sure they will like what they see.

Simcooks - Actually one of my neighbors did ask about making postcards out of my photos, especially the ones of local scenes. I don't even know where to start.

Maybe I will post a question on it on my next post. Thanks for the input.

I've noticed all kinds of things since I got my digital camera... And when I don't have my cam with me, I feel unarmed...

Thanks for the Magnolia blossoms - my favorite!

Yes, the shutter bug infected me too! Even when the critters invade my space (like the snake!), I take the picture first, then scream and chase it away ;-)

Beautiful tree. I know what you mean about now paying attention to the flowers and other things I never did before. I'm doing the same, too. It's worth it to stop and enjoy the flowers and other things that nature gifts to us. ;-)
