Maine Monument II

Here is another photo of the Maine Monument that I posted about two weeks ago. This photo, unlike the earlier photo that just showed the boy doing the "I'm the King of the World" pose, includes the entire cast of the scene.

There is a lady flanked by two near naked men on each side of her. This postures are fairly common in maritime statues from the 1800s. Does anyone know the significance of the posturing?

Nice shot on the monument. I love seeing well-builted monument but there aren't much monument available which looks like that back in my country.

It looks like they are riding on a boat. And I don't have any idea with their posture. But one thing for sure, the 2 sitting guys are really "well-builted" :D

Such wonderful details that go into these statues. Sorry, I do not know the meaning on how they are posed.

I don't know what's up with the posture...but they always look so stern to me! Or like they are looking for something way way off in the distance.

That's a good question, I always wondered why they have their arms like that. You must tell us why!
P.S. I just saw your post about helping with that marriage proposal. That was so cool!

Those are really nice statues. There is a historical reason for the poses but I don't remember the details and don't want to tell it wrong.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I appreciate your comments too.
