Theme Photo: View From Your Bedroom

June 1st is Theme Photo Day. The theme this month is: View From Your Bedroom. Here is a photo taken a few minutes ago, i.e. 1:00 AM in the morning. I set the camera shutter speed to 2 seconds to capture more light in the photo. You can see the fire escape right outside my bedroom window. The other bedroom window has an air-conditioner sitting on it. The view ain't pretty but it's home.

And you can use this fire stair as a balcony? we don't have them in Madrid, Ming.

Interesting question from dsole. Are you allowed to put plants on it, for example? I would think not, as it would obstruct passage. I'm enjoying this trip through the windows of the DPers all over.

tu as aussi un "Fire Escape". comme le dit si bien le chanteur Bohringer "c'est beau une ville la nuit".
Je te souhaite un bon weekend

you have also a “Escape Fire”. as says it so well the Bohringer singer “it is beautiful a city the night”. I wish you a good weekend

Finally managed to get back to see this nice picture! It's convenient to have a fire escape right outside your bedroom window, but I confess I would prefer a different view... I notice that buildings on the other side of the street do not seem to have such a device. Is there any reason for that? Take care.

I'm reminded of the old saying "let me live in a house by the side of the road". Something to see every minute, even in the nighttime!

Cool! You've inspired me to start looking into a snazzier digital camera that allows me to adjust shutter speed. My current one's pretty basic - I'm due for an update methinks!

That's the quintessential New York window view for most people. Great shot!

oh I love the view...I would be on that fire escape all the time, playing moon river like Audrey in Breakfast at Tiffanys.

well probably not as I don't play guitar but I would want to.

great shot.

The warm reddish light makes it a nice view.

Great photo! These fire steps give a very special mood. Too bad, we don't have them here in Europe... :-)

For me, it's New York in one shot! Thank you for visiting my garden...

Dsole & Z - It is illegal to block the fire escape so definitely, no potted plants are allowed on the stairwell.

GMG - I think the fire escape for those apartments are on the side or the back of the building. Sometimes, the fire escapes are located at the end of the hallway instead of outside the bedroom apartment.

Very good pictures !!! And thanks for this link
good week

How very convenient to have a fire escape so close!! But I hope you don't have to use it.
So... no potted plants allowed, but could you hang a window box on the outside of the railing?

Ming the Merciless said...

Ex-Shammickite - I'm not sure if it's legal to hang a flower box but I know my co-op (condo) has strict rules about hanging things outside the house. The reason for the rule is to maintain a uniform look for the exterior of the building.

You mention the view isn't pretty -- I disagree! The color is so warm. And I love the fire escape. Great job.

This is a fantastic photograph. These staircases just 'say' New York. Think Westside Story and as stilettoheights says, Breakfast at Tiffanys.

It talks to me of balmy nights, noise, the incredible and wonderful energy of New York. I just love it and love where you live, Ming.

We'll visit each other in our respective places, one day, I'm sure.

Oh I like the light here! You chose a great time for your photo. I have the same fire escape outside one of my windows too. (I think all of these window views from today will inspire me to try a similar post!) Have a good weekend.
