Malaysia: Fort Margherita

This is Fort Margherita, which has been turned into a Police Museum. Sarawak was a former British colony and was briefly ruled by the White Rajahs.
Am heading to Singapore next week.

C'est magnifique (soory, don't know how to say it in Bahasa!)

Re sand dunes: stabilised dunes are usually covered with vegetation like my Kurnell ones; these are behind a beach....there are certain types of grasses which stabilise them, then the humus build up allows larger plants to grow - up to and including quite tall trees! Amazing really.

This is a nice photograph. Interesting narrative too.

If you visited my blog yesterday and left a comment about our 52nd wedding anniversary, I wanted to say, "Thanks."

Nice series on Malaysia! So colorful...
Police museum? I wouldn't mind being interrogated in those surroundings ;-)

Great that you're posting even on vacation... The pictures are awesome. On the other hand, Malaysia and Sarawak remembered me of Emilio Salgari's «Sandokan, the Tiger of Malaysia»... What an adventure!

Hi Ming, I thought you'd be so far away that you wouldn't post - what an error on my part.

This is wonderful, knowing you're as near as my computer.

Are you having a wonderful time?

How was your eating adventure in Malaysia? You need to star a daily eating photo blog. :)

Hi, this is something from Kuchingites. This is not Fort Margherita, but Astana. It's the official residence of the Governor of Sarawak.

Fort Margherita is the building on top of a hill next to it.

Cocord very true, this is the Astana. I am the fith generation down in the family from the last white rajah, Charles Vyner, and might I also add that my family ruled Sarawak for over a Hundred years, not that brief really! in comparision to its current occupiers, Malaysia! I also hasten to add the local populas I have spoken to on visits agree that the time of the white rajahs was a more prospersous time and more so enjoyed by the people than toadys goverment.
