Apartment Stoop 4

This is the apartment stoop of a very nice townhouse in the East Village. Notice the gate under the staircase. The gate leads to a basement apartment of the building, which are fairly common here in New York.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Oh, so beautiful! I used to live in a basement apart on Chelsea - under the stairs, as it were. Friends called it the 'place under the sea.' I couldn't live in a basement now - think I'd find it claustrophobic, unless it opened onto a garden, of course. Fat chance.

So nice!! Were the basement appartments rather for kitchen, servants etc. like in London?

Hey Ming,

As i saw you're back from your hollidays...I hope they were great ! I'm going to NY in september with my family and I think you can help me with something. I'm looking for a wonderful rooftop restaurant, i'd like to have a wonderful view of the city at night ! So if you know one just tell me...

Thank You so much...

I've seen them in Boston too. I guess they are common in the East Coast?

Vincent - Here is a list of restaurants with rooftop dining.

http://newyork.citysearch.com/yellowpages/results/New_York_NY/rooftop/page1.html?flavor_id=2

Most of these are either hotel rooftops restaurants or rooftop bars. The only one I have heard of is Sushi Samba 7, which is very Sex & the City type of restaurant & bar.

E-mail me if you need more information.

Glad to see the well preserved iron work here.

It's always rewarding (for you and us) to seek out the "series" opportunities. It opens your eyes, doesn't it.

Stairs seem they need to be climbed... Are them?
