Juice Bar

It is sweltering hot and humid in NYC this week. And one of the best cures for weather like this is a nice cold refreshing fruit & veggie juice combo. My favorite blend is an orange-apple-banana-celery-beet juice. And the best place to get one is at this juice cart in front of MoMA on 53rd Street between 5th & 6th Avenues.

What is your favorite juice combo? Yes, you can add a dash (or more) of vodka if you desire.

Ming - welcome home. NYC had a rotten day today. Your picture looks very refreshing. And, yes, I'd take a shot of vodka, at least after 5 PM.

Somehow I've missed the whole juicing thing. I still just drink plain old orange juice except for when I whip up an orange-banana-yogurt smoothie. Does that count?

It's been uncomfortably hot and humid up here too, for a few days now.

My fav blend is similar to yours: strawberry-apple-banana-celery-beet -carrot.

What a great idea. Not seen that here in France although I've seen juice bars in England, for instance at Harrods.

Your combination sounds good except perhaps for the beet juice. Perhaps that's sugar beet - not beetroot?

For me just pure orange juice, but in large volumes!

Like Jilly says - missing this kind of bar in France. I guess this year would have been the wrong one to sart such a buisness!

Juicing is new to our family..... we love it.

I personally like orange, carrot, strawberry & apple combination.

Thank you for sharing all your photos while you were away. They were very interesting.

Welcome back to NYC Ming. This is a great photo, so colourful, and mouthwatering too. I mostly buy orange juice at the grocery store, no street juice bars near here... and I haven't invested in a juicer thingy.... such a boring life I lead.

Strangetastes - Am exciting about your trip to China. I'm dying to go to Shanghai. Take lots of pictures and share them with us.

Annie - a smoothie sounds even healthier. :-)

Jilly - They use cooked red beets to give it color and flavor.

Janice - Hope you are enjoying Germany. I told your parents I would go visit you if you get a chance to go back there.

I always have mine 1 single fruit, not combos. I like guava juice.

My mum always does the juicing and among all of the juices she's made,my favourite juice combo is beetroot with oranges and green and red apples and a bit of carrots.

This morning I drank beetroot with a bit of starfruit and orange and apples and it was very bitter but it keeps me going through out the day.

Celery and beet -- now I wouldn't have thought of those two in a juice drink. Can't say I'd like it... My current fave is a mango-orange-passionfruit mix.

I cannot imagine all of those you listed in one drink. I might like to try it.

I liked your photo of this shop. It is gaudy but also nice.

Such a great combo you had! Power-packed.

Not really adventurous when it comes to juice blending.

This looks so much like a picture of a pasar malam stall in Asia.
