These delicious Middle Eastern pastries are from a bakery in Astoria next to a restaurant where I go to frequently for falafel and shawarma sandwiches, tabouleh and babaganoush. The food here are delicious and inexpensive. These pastries are made from filo, chopped pistachios, honey and butter.
So have you ever had these pastries before?

no haven't tasted them but they look delicious!
I have never had those and must confess they don't look appetizing to me. Then again, I didn't think baklava(sp?) looked good until I tasted it!
i agree w/ thinking fool
Yes, I have tasted them and love them a lot (but they are full of calories)! We have a number of these bakeries here in Paris, so the problem is not to find, but to resist!
No, never.
:)
Never tried them - would love to!
No but I think I'll have to try making them. If you can give me a name I can look up the proper way to make them. That's probably the only way I'd get to try one in Little Rock, Arkansas.
They sound very similar to baklava which I have tasted and like. But only in small tastes since they are very sweet.
These look good.
I don't think I have tried any middle eastern pastries before. Wow, look at those heaps! I will go and try to look for something similar to try in the Bay Area. :P
I have had these pastries before, and love them! Peter is right, they have lots of calories, but being so sweet, you only need one, ... or two, ... or three. ..
Ming, you glutton! Baklava pastry is fatal; so sweet. You need to walk all the way up to the Cloisters to burn the calories... ;))
Have a great weekend!

waldo oiseau: calories schmalories!
I'll take one of each, please. ;-)

Wow! They look delicious! Yes, I have tasted them many times in São Paulo, when I lived there.
Too sweet for me!
Yep, I've tried those before (well, not from that place). It's delicious but leathal with all that honey!
This dessert is the one we call "baklavas". It is a Greek traditional dessert and it's really delicious.
Nice blog :)
Mmmm baklavas...
My grand mother makes them, she has the best recipe!
Hi!
