Cold Weather Gear

It has been fairly windy and cold this weekend. During weather like this, I usually have to wear a skull cap to keep my head warm or else, I will get a severe headache later in the evening. While I was in SoHo a couple weekends ago, I saw these fancy caps on sale by a street vendor on Prince Street between Mercer and Broadway. The vendor told me she knitted the caps herself.

So do you wear a hat or a cap when you go outside during the winter?

You bought the green one with the stripes, didn't you?
Yesterday, I was sitting next to a woman who was knitting in the bus. Turns out she was knitting a tote bag! Which I would never had guessed from the tiny little square she was working on.
I kind of like the graffiti van which is the perfect background here: it looks like a screaming streetgang of wild knitted SoHo puppets. And I still think you need the green one with the stripes. :)

I don't normally wear hats except when I have to take the dogs outside to do their business or if I'm playing outside with my grandson. If I'm going somewhere, I don't like my hair flat.

such bright colors, great photo . When it is extremely bitter, I wear my down northface with big warm hood. Otherwise I wear some knit and furry hats from Russia.

These hats are really fun! I have a couple of woolly hats (there comes a point in Scotland at this time of year where not wearing a hat will just mean you're miserable the whole time, plus the headache thing you mention). One is a black and white hat with a couple of bobbles on a string, which often gets a few comments. The other one is a beige Arran chunky knit-type thing, which my Other Half hates as he says it reminds him of his granny's teacosy. But it's so warm!

Hi Ming, Those are some really fanciful knitted hats, maybe more suited for children than for adults. Or not if the adult wants to look young and hip or silly.

Kefir - it's a yogurt-like smoothie kind of drink. I have never cooked with it, only just drink it. You find it in the dairy case with the natural foods (as opposed to the unnatural ones).

normally just a ball cap here. Its not usually that cold here to need a stocking cap. I like the selection the vendor has. Very colorful.

To answer your question: no (not any more). If it really got deep under freeezing point (which hardly ever happens here), I guess I would! I recently bought a number of nice knitted caps (in Peru), but they all went to family and friends!

OMG..so cute!!!

I always wear a hat. I'm a big fan of protection from sun exposure.

Great display. Yes I always wear a woolly hat when I go out in the cold and that's every morning at the moment - when I go out with the dogs.

I'd choose the pink and blue one - and the dogs would chew the bobbles!

"A screaming streetgang of wild knitted SoHo puppets." What a great description, Eliane!

(But I think he'd look cuter in the orange cap).

Very nice fancy caps, Ming. Here in my region it's so rare I need a cap.
