Le Petit Cafe

I love the signs and window decorations on this cute little cafe in SoHo, Le Petit Cafe, which is located on Spring Street between Wooster and Thompson Street, a block west of yesterday's photo. This is a great place to stop for cappuccino and gelato when I'm in the area.

So how do you take your morning coffee or tea?

i can't drink anything but black coffee. i don't know how people put sugar and milk in it, it tastes like juice more than coffee with all that stuff.

Cute place indeed. If it's tea, it's with a cloud of milk. If it's coffee, it's got to me a latte or anything where the ration of milk outwaight the coffee taste. I am not a coffee fanatic, which is why I like it diluted. Capuccino I can do but that's an afternoon thing.

A French style of café and an Italian style of coffee - a nice combination!
For me it's coffee (espresso) all the day, from first in the morning until bed time!

Juste une petite question, j'ai pas trouve de traduction à 'gelato', cela veut dire quoi ?

Just a quick question, I have not found translation 'gelato', which means what?

What an inviting place! Nice photo, Ming!

Olivier: Gelato is italian ice cream. It's made a little differently than regular ice cream, I think it has less cream or something. In any case it's very tasty!

I think I have been to this cafe before. I can never pass up anything French! This morning's tea is hibiscus, with a spoonful of honey.

Oh for the love of food! said...

What a nice, quaint little cafe this is!
I have a flat white most of the time, very rarely do I have tea in the mornings ;o)

You are introducing us to so many great places! I'll have to look for this one. And I'm definitely going to look for those rotisserie chickens with the potatoes cooking underneath that you showed the other day. That looks delicious! (I like my coffee black and nice and strong!)

I bet it must be a small cafe, right Ming? :P Oh I want a gelato too! =)))

I don't take any coffee or tea during my breakfast because normally I'll have a cup of Milo instead ;)

Le petit café? Olivier is right, French names are everywhere!

I always need a full pot of tea for breakfast.

I really enjoyed yesterday's poster of the little girl (odd and charming) and your Halloween collages. Great spirit there! None of that here in France....

During the weekdays, it's usually instant coffee at home. When there is more time during the weekends, we'll have brewed coffee, also at home.

I forgot to talk about my morning coffee - I don't drink coffee everyday, but when I do - I usually for a mocha at my favorite coffee shop here in the Twin Cities - Caribou Coffee!

Morning coffee. . .hmmm. . . .I like a little coffee with my cream! While I was gone last week, I was good coffee-deprived. The ship's regular coffee was HORRIBLE. I was off the ship at 7:30 am when we were in San Juan because I knew there is a Starbucks 1 block from the pier. I was there at 7:35. . . Grande, extra-hot latte with two Splenda, please. . . .

Espresso Macchiato (or an espresso topped up with hot milk to half way up the cup) with half a (raw)sugar....not that I'm picky or anything!

I love the photo of this little cafe. In fact, I think my friend and I had lunch there before a big day of Soho shopping. *Sigh*...oh to be back in your town :o(

Like the personalized, friendly style of the window drawings and sign script.

....oh, Ming! You are lost. There is no hope for you. You are indeed a cafe creature....and so am I!!!!!!!!

That place looks sooooo cute. Ming, when you're at your favorite 14th Street pizza joint, stop by Everyman around the corner on 13th, west of 3rd, for a great cup of cappuccino.

most mornings I have black coffee or a shot of espresso, then during the summer I tend to switch over to plain hot green tea. If there is a blizzard and I am walking around in it, I then seem to desire a Cafe Au Lait.

The food there is terrible. They microwaved my croissant. Anyone who owns a microwave knows that you don't use it for bread products, because they become rubbery and unnatural-tasting. My girlfriend's pot pie was also microwaved, resulting not in a crispy, flaky crust, but in some kind of soft, breadish shell. They also add the tip to the bill, which is a horrendously pompous move to pull on a party of two.

Tons of terrible reviews here:

I guess the signs are nice.
