Wooster Street Market

This corner street market is located on the corner of Wooster and Spring Streets in SoHo. The items sold here are mostly clothes, hats, gloves and jewelries made by independent designers and artists.

But the main reason I took this photo was the faded poster of a little girl on the wall. I was walking up Spring Street and I stopped in front of Wooster Street because of the red traffic light. When I looked up, I saw the poster and I quickly took a photo of it before the light turned green.

So do you prefer to shop for clothes at a big departmental store or at a small boutique?

N.B.: I have switched the Word Verification mode ON because I received over 50 spam comments in the last week.

Nice pic, Ming. Cute little girl. She seems to be looking over the shoppers, which is very sweet of her.

Jesus Christ, 50 spam comments! Those people have really no mercy.

I could have mistaken this for some place in Asia! I didn't think there'd be side street stalls like this in NYC.
I don't mind shopping anywhere as long as it's air-conditioned ;o)

She's certainly what caught my eye at first. I would have wanted to take this photo, too. And after reading your remark in red, I've gone back to my blog and turned on Word Verification again. I hope folks won't mind too much, but I don't have time or energy to worry with spam comment creeps.

I figure I get lots of practice typing letters without looking at my fingers with these scrambled things.

50 spams ce week-end.........Waouh impressionnant et totalement debile. Je ne comprends toujours pas l'utilité de ces spams, et cela m'enerve totalement.
Belle photo, j'aime bien l'affiche avec le dessin de la petite fille

50 spams this weekend ......... Hey impressive and totally stupid. I still do not understand the usefulness of these spams, and it irritates me totally.
Belle photo, I like the poster with a picture of the girl child

We have to travel out of our city to visit big box stores to buy clothes. There are no boutiques around here but they used to be and went out of business, years ago, when the big box stores moved in.

I like your photograph a lot. I also like to see faded signs on old brick buildings and Chew Mail Pouch tobacco on old barns.

Yeah, I was getting these Spammers too... It's a shame, as Word Verif is a pain to our readers...

That cool image on the wall was the first thing that caught my eye with this shot!

Wow, 50 spam comments!!

Yeah, that's a cute photo of the wall.

And I prefer small boutiques..although they tend to be more expensive.

I really like the atmosphere around this photo! ... and I have no preference concerning the small shop or the department store for clothes; good to have both! But i know, we have to encourage the small ones!

oh I love the poster of the little girl, that was the first thing I looked at!!!

as for clothes, I like big department stores, I know I should say small places but I am a fashion whore.

but for art and odds and ends I am def. a small shop kind of girl.

(I think I am coming to NYC for a visit soon, btw)

Wow, that's terrible about the spam. I haven't gotten that many yet, thankfully! I love that market. I'd much rather get original things in places like that. The picture on the wall is very interesting too. I wonder what era it comes from. That's a great capture!

I'm the boring type, I'd go to a big place where I can get most of the stuff I need.

She really lights up that grey wall there!

I love this shot. I am not a fan of malls and prefer to either make my gifts for others or if shopping for myself like the little one of a kind shops and kiosks around town!

I've browsed thru that market many times. Gotta tell you that I never shop in big department stores. I prefer one of a kind items, though those small boutiques usually charge BIG prices.

Hey, so Pasar Malam like in Asia :-)

I turned on Spam protection very very long ago for the same reason. Irritating isn't it?

adorable! I love the old buildings in Minneapolis because they have old, faded signs on the side of buildings. I love shopping at smaller boutique stores, it just makes me feel special when I do.

I love markets like this. . . .I think they are part of what's great about large cities!
