New York City saw its first snow storm for the season yesterday and I went out to Central Park after (a hearty) breakfast to shoot some photos. This photo was taken just as the snow stopped and you can see a lot of young couples were out for a walk and enjoying the weather.
Here is a photo of the same scene, the Literary Walk, taken earlier this Spring. Which do you think is prettier - the scene with or without the snow?

I think they're both gorgeous!!
Yes, I couldn't believe it when I woke up this morning and saw the snow falling..so early in the season! I haven't seen snow before Christmas since I've lived in NYC.
I wanna be there! Don't care much for snow, but that park always looks awesome with a fresh coat of snow. Great photo!
Oooh. I like the snowy scene! :)
Winter wonderland! We, too, got snow yesterday and evening, but I think ours was a bit deeper than yours. Although I like the visual effect of freshly fallen snow, I can do without the resulting slush and unpleasantness. Surf and sand for me!! PS. Come visit my blog to see some of my neighborhood scenes.
I love the perspective in this view. Isn't the first day of snow so much fun? Tomorrow will be another story.
why do the trees in both spring & winter look quite bare too?
Both of the views are equally beautiful for different qualities. You are so lucky for that much snow that it colored the ground. Wish we had snow.
Awesome. It snowed. I like this one better.
They are both beautiful, but i think I prefer the one with snow since I've never experienced winter with snow before.
You must like winter since you've woken up especially early to have brekky and to take photos!
xo
In beginning December, I prefer the snowy one, but in ending February, i'll choose the other one!
Is it the same place that we see in "Kramer against Kramer", this old film with Dustin Hoffman and Merryl Streep?
un classique de NYC, et tellement beau. bravo pour la photo
A classic in NYC, and so beautiful. Bravo for the photo
I prefer the white version as a photo, but snow in the city is not often a pleasure. I guess an April or October photo of the same scene would be nice to see!
Hey, looks wonderful there!
I love the snow, this is a very nice picture.
i like the snow covered photo, it looks more magical
Oh Lordy, I've just been to Kate's St. Paul and now more snow!
So interesting to see both shots. I prefer the snow shot. as Pusa says, it's magical and full of people enjoying the first snows of winter.
Love the scene with snow! As I live in a tropical country, I love seeing snow's photos! Beautiful photo, Ming!
I was going to say that I prefer the snow scene to see, but the other to walk; but after returning to the spring scene I changed my mind: it's also a wonderful shot!
Further to Amsterdam on Blogtrotter, I returned to one of my favourite cities on the Revival 90s: would love to read your comments there!
Have a great week!
Oh I'll go for the snow scene, definitely! This looks so exciting. Any snowman around? No, it looks like there are only adults around, what a pity!
Ming, come and have a look what the weekend was like in Avignon, definitely a different climate!
and btw, your Xmas tree of a couple of days ago is just spectacular. NYC will always be NYC!!!
Love the snowy scene. Everything looks so clean and fresh. I hope we get some snow in Cheltenham this winter!
decisions, decisions, I love them both.....but I am partial to snow scenes.
I agree with Alice, it depends which end of the winter I am in.... at the start of the winter the snow is charming and delightful, but by March... I am pining for some spring weather.
Oh I love the snow! This photo is so beautiful. I love the dusting of snow on the trees! I wish I could wrap up in my scarf and head out in NY!
Fabulous photos, both of them. I can't pick a favorite.
This pic is spectacular!
Another a must-go park for me.. I dun mind the snow
Snow scene.
love this shot, it's romantic. I'll be posting my Moscow shots soon and this reminds me of one of my photos.
