Starry Starry Night

These thousands of sparkling lights are part of the decorations in front of Cartier, the luxury jewelery store on 5th Avenue and 52th Street. If you look upwards, it almost looked like the sky was dotted with millions of stars.

So have your ever wished upon a star?

I've wished on a shooting star, but I'm not telling what for!

Thanks for all the comments you left for me. I've enjoyed your photos of New York very much and look forward to more. I'm back on 1st Jan.

I hope you have a happy and peaceful Christmas and a great
2008.

I think they are pretty. Multiply these numbers by lights all over the world and the power to generate the electricity is mind boggling and the pollution generated -- well that's another story.

And have a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

This is just beautiful, Ming. Trust Cartier! - although perhaps the lights are not arranged by them. And such a good photograph. I tried photographing the area in front of the Casino in Monte Carlo and all I got were blurred lights and nothing in the background.

No, I've not wished upon a star but I've wished for a Cartier watch. No one was listening tho...

Thanks so much for your great photos, commentaries and questions over the year and wishing you a very happy Christmas, dear Ming. And many thanks for yuor visits to Menton DP and Monte Carlo DP.

I wonder what it feels like as you walk through the "stars"? Probably a little surreal.

Merry Christmas!

Yes, I have (wished upon a star) and WOW! No wonder I've always had a yearning to be in New York around the holidays. Absolutely beautiful. Merry Christmas, Ming!

Gorgeous - I much prefer these little dotty lights than the big blingy ones you get everywhere!

Merry Christmas to you and yours from Glasgow!
