Vesuvio Bakery in SoHo

The Vesuvio Bakery, on Prince Street between Thompson and West Broadway, has been in business for eighty years. It was serving Italian style baked goods and great coffee way back when SoHo was considered an undesirable commercial warehouse district. It is amazing that the bakery is still here.

Okay, enough about the photos. What goodies did you get for Christmas? I got some movie passes/coupons, subscriptions to various magazines and a box of chocolate.

My stomach aches for places like this. And almost any bread spread with butter satisfies the agony for a while. I love bread.

Nice picture. I got a lump of coal and switches (I think only old people will know what a switch is). Well, thats what I was told I was going to get all year. We got a new HD TV, a mixer and chocolate, lots of it. My stomach hurts this morning still.

The bakery definitely is my kind of place, but who could resist it. Reminds me of a similar one we often visit in Minneapolis. Num. Christmas gifts? We cut down this year intentionally, but the best gift I got was the look on my 6-yr-old granddaughter's face as she passed around the gifts for us which she helped select. The printing on the gift cards were hers and she loved the praise she received from us. So...another successful holiday season.

That IS a wonderful bakery.

I got a Mason Pearson hairbrush, Clarisonic skin machine, earbuds, jacket, gloves, candle, book, earmuffs, hairdryer, and Beatles mug.

Those movie passes are a great idea....I'm going to give that next time I need to give a gift.

Merry Christmas!

Funny, the name Vesuvio instantly makes me think "pizza". That's the way I'm programmed, apparently... ;)

OH! I have been there numerous times. . . .even brought home a few goodies from there the last time we were in NYC.

Christmas gifts? Magic (Bruce Springsteen), a number of books, sweaters and jeans, and some great news that came a few days early. . . .I got accepted to an MFA program.

I like this bakery, a teaser to see the goodies but from the outside. I am anxious to get bake to baking my home artisan bread again. I got a couple books and a new tripod!
