Empire State Building

I was at Koreatown (on 32nd Street and 5th Avenue) for dinner earlier last week and this was what I saw as I looked up above me. The triangular shapes on the upper right and lower left corners are store front awnings. The structure on the upper left corner is the building behind me. And right in the middle is the most celebrated building in New York City, if not the country.

I have a confession -- I have lived in NYC for almost 10 years and I have never been inside the Empire State Building.

Do tell us something that people won't have guessed about you.

That's weird! I've been to the ESB about a dozen times and I never lived in NYC! ;)

I was born in Brittany and I'm still living there and I have never been to "la Pointe du Raz", the last peace of land in the West of Brittany (so the outside limit of the earth!), one of the most famous site for French people..."Quoi???Tu n'as jamais été à la Pointe du Raz???"
But I have been to the top of the Empire State Building, hé hé!

Don't feel bad about that. Lots of people have never been in the Empire State Building. I have never been there or in New York City and still don't feel under-privileged.

It is a nice photograph of a lot of people working or a lot of janitors cleaning and the top part is a lot of electricity. I guess the city is not going Green yet. LOL

When I visited NYC for the first time, 43 years ago, there were not yet any twin towers and the visit to Empire State was "compulsory"! Now, you can ask, have I been to the top of the Eiffel Tower? (The answer is yes, once as a visiting tourist in my youth and once - to show it to my kids - during the 33 years I have lived here.)

Love it, Ming. This is one of my favorite 'iconic New York' photos of your's.

You are an amazing photographer. Come to Parson's, go at night or on the weekends like me!

What an amazing angle. You have such a good eye for a great shot!! I think I've been inside the ESB, but I can't remember ever going to the top. This is an amazing photo!!!

First, that's an amazing photograph. Secondly, it seems that many of us don't visit what is iconic in our city. When I lived in London I never visited royal palaces, saw the Queen, whatever. Somehow it was always there so I didn't both.

But Ming, you must visit the Empire State Building. It's mind blowing up top there.

As to what is surprising about me. Well unless I was wearing the clothes, I don't think people would guess I love Diesel clothes! So imaginative and different.

I meant to write 'didn't bother.' Should read things thru.

Ming - Get up to the top of the ESB without delay! Its fantastic up there. When I visited NYC I went up twice in 4 days. Once in the day and once at night. At night it is magical.
Great shot, brings back nice memories for me.

I'm Swiss and have never seen the Matterhorn (other than on pictures). And I don't like milk. I was in NY for one month and never visited the ESB. Walked right by countless times. There, I said it.

This is a wonderful photo of the building at night. I guess it's time you paid a visit, huh? ;-)

I've never been either. The day I do, I hope Cary Grant is still waiting for me up there.
