Mona Lisa in SoHo

I saw this graffiti in SoHo last weekend and it reminded me of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, well sort of. It looks like a modern interpretation of the original art work.

So have you seen the Mona Lisa?

N.B.: I'm heading to Rome, Italy for a week long vacation this afternoon. I will try to post new photos from my trip whenever possible.

Well it sorta looks like her ... not too sure about the brick work ... unless, of course, this is meant as a jigsaw puzzle :)

Yes, I've seen Mona. Quite a girl.

Buon viaggio, Ming.

Why yes, I saw her not long ago. It was hard to see her for all the dumb tourists standing there having someone take their picture standing in front of her. WHY????? I'll be honest, after seeing Leonardo's drawings here, I was underwhelmed when I saw ML.

Ming, have a fabulous trip and take lots of pictures for all of us. Can't wait to see them Bon voyage my friend.

I have, but the author of the graffiti probably not...
Welcome in Italy, Ming!

I love the composition you have made of this, Ming! It stands as a work of art just as you have framed it.

I have not seen ML, but I saw The Birth of Venus, at the Uffizi in Florence. But I have never been to Rome - have a great time!

Bon Voyage-have a fabulous time in Rome, Ming. I'm happy for you to get away from the city for a week with the rain and cold weather.

Yes, we saw ML in Paris a few years ago. The way you captured this is interesting-but it does not remind me of the one at the Louvre.

ML is if course a "must" at the Louvre, but with all my respect to Leonardo (and I have visited the house where he was - supposedly - born, his last home, his grave...) I still wonder why this particular painting somehow is THE painting? Maybe the story behind it, the fact that it was stolen....

Have a nice trip to Rome, a fabulous city!

I haven't seen the Mona Lisa, I'd love to though.

Love this photo and definitely see the resemblance. Have seen the lady countless times (when I lived in Paris a long time ago, the Louvre was free every Sunday, and she was not behind glass).
Have a meraviglioso time in Rome! Can't wait to see your photos of the Eternal City—and let's get together when you get back, please, so you can tell me all about your trip.

Hello Ming,

Have a wonderful time in Europe.

Re: the mural. I may be showing my age, but for some reason, the mural reminded me of Patty Hearst, the kidnapped heiress.

Here's an old photo in case you are not acquainted with her:

Hi Ming! New Year, Old Troubles... No, I’m not talking about the frosty weather, just the office... Another hectic week! ;)
Amazing grafitti!
Mona Lisa? Several times, but later is becoming more difficult than in the 70s; the Louvre is becomming more crowded, it seems...
Have a safe trip, but beware of the freeze!
Look forward to seeing you back at Blogtrotter, now with new posts on Delhi! Enjoy and have a great time!

I think if Leonardo was around today he'd be painting murals on walls like this.

Enjoy your trip!

Hi Ming!
I hope you're having a great time in Rome! I have a friend there and she told me the weather was rainy but it's getting better everyday!
I love this graffiti, very colorful!
I saw the MoOnaLisa once, and I felt a little bit dissapointed... it's a very small piece of art! and there were lots of people around it, snapping flashed pics all the time! But I liked it ;)

I'm curious to see what Rome is like in the winter months. It would be lovely there now, sipping coffee and eating delicious foods

Yes, I saw Mona Lisa on a gloomy February morning. I haven't been to Paris in the summer, but I understand it is almost impossible to get near the painting then, due to the crush of tourists.
