Outside Looking In

My friend's Apple laptop died suddenly on Saturday so we went to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store on 5th Avenue and 59th Street to get a diagnosis of what was wrong with it. This photo was taken around 5 PM as it was beginning to get dark outside so the lights from inside the store really lit up the glass cube structure.

So has your computer ever acted weird or died suddenly?

Thankfully my computer has never died one me. I've got a new one now and it has been behaving very well so far! I love this shot. I hear the Apple store is a really cool place. I'll have to go in sometime!

Nice place. I generally buy my computers from Dell, and yes - I've known scary times with one or two. :)

My computer's been a little weird of late and takes aaaaaages to boot up...or maybe I'm just impatient? :o)

The Apple Store is cool. There was a flurry of activity when we were there - didn't know where to start, so we just played with a couple things and left!

How are you anyway? Hope you had a really wonderful Christmas and that 2008 is off to a great start for you.

Thanks for your message on my very old post. I finally added another one today ;o)

Gosh. The store is magnificent. Lots of people.

And what was the diagnosis?

I love that Apple Store! Got loads of photos of it on The Goddess In You when I blogged about my visit to NYC.

Computers are like people - quite unpredictable at times.

Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your footprints behind. Sorry for not dropping by sooner. I was on a course the whole weekend. Do visit again. Have a great start to your week!

j'espere que tu as pu tout récupérer de ce qui avait dans l'ordinateur.
Moi je me plains pas, comme je travaille dans une société d'informatique, au moindre petit problème je l'amène ;o)

I hope that you were able to recover all of what was in the computer.
I am not complaining, because I work in a software company, I slightest problem leads o)

Nice picture...Well as i said in a previous post my computer died like two weeks ago, so i bought a new one, but since i'm not a fan of Apple Computers I bought an Asus C90S which is really great !!!

I didn't know what was actually the genius bar !!! So it's like a place where you can have a diagnosis of your non-working apple products ?

Apple stores are always so cool!

Better not to mention it. It does look like the end of the world sometimes! That store really looks great. I hope the patient soon recovers and it is not a terminal illness.

I *LOVE* Macs. . . .had them until I owned a store and needed the PCs for business purposes. Both desktop and laptop were/are Dells, and both have crashed. The laptop died once when it was 5 mos. old. . .I *HATE* Dell. Over a three-day period, I spoke with more than 25 people and spent more than 10 hours on the phone trying to figure out the problem. Did I say I hate Dell?

I was at the Apple Store in Green Hills here yesterday. . . .I'm going back to Mac!

PS Love the shot!

I had my HDD fail -- it had been making all sorts of noise (hopefully you don't know the clicking noise of which I speak) but I kept putting off doing a complete backup. Well, guess what? The disk crashed and burned, I lost some 8 months of photos and about a year of emails. My iBook was still under AppleCare, so the HDD was replaced without additional cost to me.

Z, kinda looking forward to what happens at the Macworld Expo tomorrow...

As you know my computer gave up the ghost at Christmas. This store looks cool, I'm going to visit next time I come to NYC.

No, I've been fortunate. But, I'm not known to have the latest and greatest in technology. I just recently upgraded to a new computer from one that I had for 8 years!

Love the photo! It is really neat!

That pic is SO New York!
Fingers crossed that the computer has lots of life left in it..... please whisper when you say the word "crash"!

have you already been to the new Apple store on 14th Street in the meat Packing district. It's fabulous and so big. Anyway, I think that the one I prefer is the one they have in Soho!

Yes, my Dell died last year and I now have a MacBook. Though last week the CD drive began making grinding noises when trying to read a disc. I'll be going to the new Apple store on 14th Street to have it diagnosed.

In the meantime, I've been meaning to purchase one of those Lacie hard drives to to back up my stuff.

.....the answer, yeah, you bet. And judging by the numbers in the fancy store a lot other machines in NCY have also hit the buffers.

There is so much great photo opportunities with this Apple cube. Great example here, Ming.
I think I got the "bomb" on one of my very first Mac. And Blogger has not been very nice with me these days.

I'd say everything I've ever bought from my Apple has acted weird or died.

Ours had a meltdown a few months ago. Fortunatley most of my photos were also stored on a laptop....but it prompted me to buy an external HDD and now it's a matter of trying to remember to do backups!
