Tribeca Street Scene

This is a street scene in Tribeca (Triangle Below Canal Street) on a week day evening around 6:00 PM. I was in the neighborhood for a meeting last week and decided to hang out in the area afterwards because I rarely come down this way.

So what do you usually do after work?

Happy memories, Ming. Thanks. This is where I stayed when last in NYC. Love the photo and the light effect and that early evening feel.

As I work from home, there isn't really an 'after work' and you know, there should be...I'll look into it!

I loved Fenix' comment.

It's always interesting to see how another city halfway round the way darkens at 6pm. Well, you can't blame me...I live in Singapore so the sun sets about 7.15pm every single day. There are no seasons here!

Must say when I was in Paris last november, my friend and I exclaimed at how early the day ended (5pm!) It was certainly something interesting to a tropical islander.

And oh, I head home after work not because I don't have a life but there are no activities to be done in Singapore at all. Everyone heads back to their pigeon hole and coo-coos out of the nest the next morning to work again.

Home is where the heart is they say, but I am home all the time. If I go out at this time of day, like you did, I would see closed drapes and empty streets.

After work, I drive an hour to get home and then work around the house.

I don't work (any more), so I just hang out more or less the whole days!

I like the green reflections.

I get home, eat and normally shut my eyes for half an hour before heading out!

If I lived in NYC where people never sleep I'm sure I would be tempted out for a walk and a meal or a show. But here in L.R. I am content to stay home, putter around the kitchen, sit in my chair and read or knit, listen to the radio or watch a little TV.

Mahalo for sending me the NY Times article about Hawaii. My comment: all true about how expensive everything is, but the author never made it to the island of Maui (where I live) which is WAY more expensive than the islands of Big Island and Kauai mentioned in the article!

Recently the Ritz Carlton on Maui opened after it's nearly year long renovation, and the article in the paper said that it was re-done to appeal to the VERY VERY rich. This is the target market for Maui.

So if ya come to visit, bring your credit cards! Hah!

Re: your story and photo. This is one of the many things I loved about Manhattan: it's 24 hour lifestyle!

I haul my heavy bag, trudge to the parking lot, get in the car, drive 40 minutes to the train, wait for the train on the platform, take the train for 45 minutes to NYC, get off the train and onto the subway, then get home and collapse and drink heavily.

If I can manage to make it home before 8 p.m., I go to tae kwon do class.

I'm quitting my job.

What I see here is that it's 6 pm and the sky isn't dark. Spring is on its way !

I love the shiny reflections on the wall on the left.
