Golden Angel

This statue of a golden angel is located on a 10 feet tall pedestal at the corner of Central Park South and 5th Avenue, which is also known as the Grand Army Plaza. Obscured from view behind the angel's wing is a statue of General William Sherman on a horse.

This is one of my favorite statues in New York City because it sits high up on a pedestal in an open area, uncluttered by buildings and/or trees. It also reminds me of the Winged Victory at the Louvre in Paris.

So what and where is your favorite piece of art?

That is a very nice statue! I haven't found my favorite yet.

The bar below has such a nice sign that it is only fitting that the rest of the facade gets a face lift.

A nice perspective you have chosen. the angel seems very mighty like this.
My favourite piece of art? Hm, there are so many outside. I especially like a little park nearby where you can find a lot of sculptures and installations.

Lovely statue, Like the shot, the dark statue looks even better with a blue cloudy sky.

Very few statues where I live, but lots in Toronto. I like the shape against the blue sky.

One favorite is a very tall cylindric shaped bronze of St. George slaying the dragon. It is modernistic tucked away in some side street on a corporate premise up the hill from Blackfriars Bridge in London. It was cast by the famous foundry Morris Singer. I always made a particular effort to view it whilst in London.

There are so many statues in Manhattan though I don't have a favorite....but the one of Puck, atop the Puck Building, always catches my eye.
