United Nations Building

The tall iridescent green building on the left is the United Nations building. It is located at the end of 42nd Street by the East River in Manhattan. This photo was taken from across the river in Long Island City, Queens.

So what is the up-and-coming area or neighborhood in your city?

This photo brought Eliane to mind (don't know why, it just did - btw, have you heard from her?).

Hi Ming,

This is Photolicious (from Sillypore). Do you know what on earth happened to Eliane? She had her last entry in the blog almost a month back and we haven't heard from her since...she was supposedly in a plane getting to somewhere which we were supposed to guess.

Ah U.N. I know it. I had some speech there. Giggle ! --- OT: from Flckr I realized that Eliane seems to be in Nice, French (Côte d'Azur).

Ming, how funny, I just posted a coastline photo of NYC as well. Geez!

Notice how this side of NYC is much more photogenic than the other. The other has the new Trump towers along the West Side highway, but the East side is much more classic.

I just adore the UN building. Gorgeous.

I noticed something on a Top Chef episode last season when the contestants were teased with going to NY. They were holed up in New Jersey, but the shot the producers decided to show was of New York's East Side, essentially the 'wrong' side of the city.

See? The photogenic side of choice.

That's a really lovely photo of that stretch of land on the East River. It makes the U.N. building look majestic and not at all grimy like it usually does...

Great photo today Ming. Really says New York! Is that the sun going down or is it a reflection in a building?

Beautiful photo Ming.

My guess is that East Harlem is up and coming, because anything below 96th Street is totally unaffordable.

The photo is a great view for those of us living far from that wonderful city. I'm so sorry to hear that the UN building is "grimy" from one of the posters.
