Mid-Month Theme: Subway Day

I took this photo on the No. 7 train early one morning during my commute to work. I was in the last car of the train and it was before rush hour traffic (at 7:10AM) so the car was empty. I took a lot of photos from different angles and this one was taken with the camera over my head.

Subway day is a mid-month theme shared by the following blogs:

So when do you set off to work every morning?

So glad you clarified "over" your head, as I was thinking you just might have "bumped" your head with this one -:) Wonderful perspective!

Absolutely awesome picture, Ming. Really awesome. If everything is working properly, I leave my place at 9 and am at work by 9:30. More often than not, everything is not working properly, putting me out the door around 9:15 and at work by 9:45. But I've seen more than my fair share of sunsets from my window at work, so don't think I'm that big a slacker!

Ming, I love it
I've been entranced with the ceilings of subways, too. When packed with people, it'd be a great thing to take a photo of, with all the distorted shapes and colors.

great photo!

même idée que Peter, un métro vide. moi les métros vident cela m'angoisse totalement.
Same idea as Peter, a subway empty. I subways frighten it completely empty.

Ah, don't talk about early mornings, they can't be the essence of life. Happy subway day, Ming!

Yes, we have similar photos from NYC, Stockholm and Paris... although I did not make the effort to hold the camera over my head.

Please note that the link to Paris goes to my old blog. The updating has been made on my newly started blog: http://peter-pho2.blogspot.com/

... and for the subway part, it would be better to go to this direct link: http://peter-pho2.blogspot.com/search/label/subway

It is impossible to find an empty car of a metro/rapid transit system when in Hong Kong or Singapore,I am VERY SURE! In Taiwan, the last car of their metro is for bikers - to bring in their bikes :)

I also saw another post this morning and the car was empty. They are nice looking. Neat and clean as a pin. Makes a nice photo.

Cool shot, Ming! So shiny.

I'm an earlyriser. Sometimes as early as 5 am (working at home).

I love the perspective on this one! At first I thought you must have been up on a seat to take this shot. That's a very creative photo. I'm always running late in the mornings unfortunately!

Clever idea to put the camera over your head. It's another taste of home for me.

Fantastic photo. Hard to imagine an empty car on the NY subway.

It looks so clean & shiny! I love the reflection on the ceiling. Great shot.

Yes, this is an amazingly clean subway car!!!!
Greetings.

I probably won't try it but Kitty has a good point. The ceiling view could become very interesting in different circumstances.

Oh Wow, Ming. That is a GREAT shot. Fifty pats on the back for you - no, a hundred.

The overhead "hail mary" shot makes it all the more interesting!

I've NEVER seen such a clean subway car. I take the L to the 1 or the N/R/Q/W and change at Times Square. I'm usually at the station by 7:15.

i like this photo. I shall try taking photo above my head.

Wow! Never been in an empty subway car. It always is a "sardine can" experience. I am actually experiencing with the bus and taking it almost every day to go to work. MUCH more enjoyable and almost faster...
