Appetizers @ Natural Tofu

These appetizers are from a wonderful Korean restaurant called, Natural Tofu on Queens Boulevard between 40th and 41st Street. I love the place so much that I eat here about once a week. I usually get the spicy tofu soup (sondubu) with rice and these appetizers (panjan) are free.

So have you ever had Korean food?

No. Have you ever had kimchi?

Although I'm not a fan of tofu, I have to admit that the appetizers look delicious!

I LOVE Korean food! I was just at Kang Suh on 31st St. in Koreatown on Thursday night.

So Natural Tofu is a funny name for a restaurant. Is it in contrast to synthetic tofu?

i love korean food..
my canteen used to have a korean stall.. and they serve very nice bibimbap.. i like the spicy sauce that you mix with your rice & vege. The other dish which i like is the thinly sliced grill pork wrapped with slices of garlic, sauce and lettuce. yum! yum!

My ancestors are Danish, so anything spicier than dill weed makes me cry.

The answer is yes; I have a Korean restaurant 50 m from where I live. I go there - now and then - as a change!

I love Korean food. There used to be a 24 hour Korean restaurant in Flushing where you were able to saute the food yourself at your table.

Looks quite appetizing. I can see why you favor this restaurant regularly.

By the way, your recent staircase and Marley's both inspired my post today, and that in turn seems to have inspired Ham. Just never know what may happen when you take the stairs :)

A correction: Ham's post was from 2006, not today ... my mistake. You can see the fabulous staircase here:

Nope, not tried Korean food before - sounds good though! We eat a lot of sea food in Cape Town though, seeing as we have two Oceans right on our door step, the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean :)

I'll have to try the one in Queens sometime. The one in Manhattan is my favorite Korean place.

It looks yummy, but I've not tried Korean.

As Chuck has said, I've been inspired by your staircase post the other day, and posted my own. I've also added a link in my post to you, hope that is ok :)

I like Korean food, especially barbecued ribs with whatever that spicy sauce is called. I have a friend that calls tofu "toad food", and I have to confess that I agree - just can't get into it, not for lack of trying. I like the bountiful line of dishes here.

I'm not sure I have ever really tried real Korean food yet. I went to Do Hwa in the Village. It's an adorable place but I think it's probably fusion. I thought it was pretty good. The other Korean-inspired I tried was at Woo Lae Oak in SoHo. Never again: it started wonderfully and went down from there. I now have a rule of thumb: avoid great design restaurans in SoHo, especially if the waiters are way too goodlooking.

There's a Korean restaurant in my neighborhood. Been there many years. For some reason, I've never been there before.
