Flower Box

I saw this flower in front of a window of a church on Christopher Street in the Village. The basement window situation at floor level on the outside of the building but located high up near the ceiling from the inside of the building. This is fairly common in basement apartments to allow light exposure into the otherwise, windowless room.

So do you have a basement in your house/apartment?

Not here in little Willits. When I lived in downtown Sacramento, the "basement" level was usually only slightly down in the earth. The main living quarters were always raised up high to help survive flooding events. these were buildings that predated the later levees. I used to think all Victorian mansions (later apartments) were built that way! Here’s an example

A lovely lilac daisy that would appear to get a lot of TLC.

ce bouquet de fleur sur le trottoir est superbe, et c'est très poétique comme photo.

this bouquet of flowers on the sidewalk is superb, and it's very poetic as photo.

You don't often see this here; not in the same way you can find it in Britain, in NYC....

Beautiful flowers. No basement in my house although there is a nice sized windowless room under the house that I think at one time was used as a wine cellar. MB

Lovely brachicomes! No, I have no basement in my house, there are too many sources in Arradon and many basements are regulary flooded.

Luv your daisies!

Our building does have a basement, where we have a laundry room and fitness center.

I think you see them less in Britain now. Depends on the area. No basement here. Pity, it would be converted into a wine celler and sound proofed so I could finally learn the guitar.

Hiya, Ming! there isn't a basement in my apartment but I know there are many old houses here in Perth that have them. Recently we had such a down-pour of rain that it was actually flooded in the city - we were out and about shopping and having lunch and then it just started raining buckets! when the storm subsided and we could leave, I actually had to fold up my Jeans and remove my shoes and walk in above-ankle-deep water. It was such a strange feeling because I've never had to do that before. I wonder whether it affected the old houses with basements..
