Rooftop Art at the MET

This installation on the rooftop garden of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) is the Coloring Book by Jeff Koons. It is one of three pieces of work by Mr. Koons on exhibition here.

You can see my reflection and the skyline of Manhattan in the shiny surface. I know, I know, I need to lose a few pounds or so. I've been asking for steamed broccoli instead of french fries with my (oh the horror) turkey burger.

So do you have any other tips on losing weight and eating healthy?

Well, it looks to me like you are on the right track: you have lost some weight already, haven't you?

Hi Ming... yes, I'm back blogging after 3 weeks on holiday in England! Lots of fish'n'chips, and mushy peas. What are mushy peas you ask? You'll have to go to England to find out!!

What a stunning photograph. You look just fine to me Ming. Don't worry about the diet. Just eat healthy.

Eat healthy snacks between meals! It helps keep your metabolism up and will help keep you from overeating because you won't be starving all the time.

Cut back on portions and try to get in at least a little bit of excercise each day...with all the walking you must do in NY, you're probably off to a good start anyway. :]

To lose weight is very easy: just stop eating all meals which please you and stay focused on everything else...

Look ok to me mate. Alas no diet tips. I eat like a pig and stay slim, but I am a veggie. Must have a breakfast, the golden rule. Mushy peas, love 'em. Not good for deiting though.

Well, then, blue must be a slimming color, 'cause you don't look like you have a problem. Clever self-portrait, Ming.

I needed to lose weight, and nothing I did helped. I would lose, gain, lose, gain, lose, gain. Two years ago, the doctor told me that if I wanted to lose weight and keep it off, I needed to give up the white sugar. He was right. I started cutting it out of my diet on May 25, 2006. I also cut back on portion sizes. I've lost about 25 pounds. I don't fry stuff. . .although I will eat french fries. I use mostly fresh food in cooking.

Love the photo, by the way.

Cool photo Ming! My weight loss tip is to cut back on the carbs...which is a shame, as they're usually the yummiest part of the meal :o)

And I agree with Babooshka - you MUST have breakfast (high protein), which should keep you satisfied until lunch without the need for snacking.

I've been asking that question everytime!

My philosophy is simple...'Get Moving and Doing'. Walk and/or run at least 30 minutes each day.(excuse to take the doggies out and about on the nearby levee.) Eat sensibly, and drink a tall glass of water in the morning, prior to lunch and evening meals (old military trick).

Prolly doesn't work for everyone, but is easy enough and seems to do the trick for me.

Ming...I've been away...doing a bit of traveling...now catching up on your post....This is a "great" photo...I love it!

About the diet...it is never ending for me...so brocoli it is and lots of it I suppose...try Sugar Busters...no sugar, no breads..low carbs...everything else unlimited :)

Eat less carb!

Eat smaller meals, but more frequently. So there's enough fuel to keep the burning process going on throughout the day.

Or avoid calories from yucky food. Don't waste the calories on them. LOL...

"Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants."

My mantra. ;) Read Michael Pollan's entire article here.

Love the artwork and your self-portrait though!

That's a REALLY cool photo Ming. You definitely look thinner.....now just stay away from that fried food and bread. Good luck with the diet.

I could certainly lose 10% of me as well (well, obviously I can't or I would have done that already). More important than the weight is being in shape. Walks, swimming, taking the stairs instead of that elevator. Yeah right. Tomorrow.
