Three Bridges of East River

Strangetastes of Saint Louis Daily Photo and his lovely bride visited me in NYC yesterday morning (Saturday) with their nephew, Michael. We went on a 30-minute cruise on the East River to view the Waterfall Exhibition by Olafur Eliasson. I think we all managed to have fun exploring the city despite the foggy and wet weather.

In the photo above, you can see one of the four artificial waterfalls -- this one is under the Brooklyn Bridge. You can also see three bridges that connect Manhattan Island to Long Island, starting with Brooklyn Bridge closest to the boat, followed by Manhattan Bridge and Williamsburg Bridge.

So how is your weekend so far?

The waterfall looks like a fantastic idea! I love seeing such monumental "event" art. I recovered from the 4th of July by going shopping (shoes), because my feet were killing me the day before!

Great shot though the mist... I love that Brooklyn Bridge...
Interesting post on the taxi system in NYC; what I find amazing is the protection given to taxi owners not creating a decent subway or train link the airports... ;)
Have a great Sunday!

Beautiful photo, I laughed at the fact everyone is looking at something different, in their own world. =)

My weekend? Delivered a calf this afternoon, saved the mother, she wouldn't have been able to give birth herself.

Hmmm...my weekend has been busier than my week as I was working :o( Am looking forward to a little sleep in tomorrow!

I love those bridges...we cycled across the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges during our NY visit last year and it was awesome to see the city from such a different perspective. They're not as flat as they look though - the ride was tough at times!!

I saw photos of those waterfalls in our newspaper, would love to see them in real life!!
My weekend so far?
Well, spent yesterday morning going to a yard sale, then shovelling and wheelbarrowing 2 cubic yards of nice black soil into my new flower garden, then in the evening a BBQ with my son and DIL, to meet their friends and their friends new baby girl, Rita.
Today? It's gonna be HOT, so I think I might just relax under an umbrella in the back yard. Maybe. Or maybe not.

Dear Ming!
We biked down to the South Street Seaport today to see the waterfalls.
You were much closer and got a much better picture.
As you can tell, we are back in NY.
what about joining Shadow Shot Sunday next week?
All best

Hi, Ming...the w/e's like yrs...a bit on and off wet, which is slightly delaying the men's final at Wimbledon.

Tilt adjustment....I find Picasa is the simplest and least fussy of all and very quick. No problems with "fuzziness".

Always a pleasure to have you dropping by. I've been worried about you for the last few days...no cafe's or restaurants! ;-)

I had no idea there was a waterfall under that bridge. Cool idea!

Weekend has been busy, hot and humid. . . .We did do some fun stuff, though.

Great shot of all three bridges...like the perspective. There has been quite a bit of advertisement in LA media about the waterfalls installation. Sorry it will be gone when we get there in December. Thanks for the picture.

The week-end - kind of a let down after the 4th celebration and party.
