Lost Bird

Last week, I lost my camera but I found it the next day. On Saturday, I saw this sign posted on a lamp post in SoHo -- apparently someone found a lost bird. My question is how does one find a lost bird? Did it fly into someone window and said, "I'm lost?"

So have you lost something recently? Did you ever find it again?

Must admit, I find this very touching, and am hoping against hope that this bird finds its owner (or vice versa). The last bird I had (a parakeet named Bart) said at least 30 different things. After a while, I didn't even have to teach him; he would just repeat whatever I said.
Can't remember the last time I lost something (possibly because I'm a copy editor and, therefore, really anal).

The picture seems to indicate it was a turkey! A lost turkey in NYC sounds about as difficult a situation as you could have. Who has an apartment big enough?

that's one hopeful sign of matching bird to owner with a stick figure! You must of been frantic when you lost your camera! I misplace stuff daily, but it usually turns up again, mostly after I've given up on it.

I wonder if this is for real. If so, whether the owner found the bird. Hmmm...

So cute!
Why don't you call and ask? Maybe take a picture and help find the owner? It might turn out a nice story. Funny way to make new friends!

E's comment cracked me up! Hilarious.
Lost something???? How about reading glasses and keys on an hourly basis, 24/7. Pitiful.

You know me and the birds. Yeah they fly into my window and say I'm confused can you sit with me 'til I cone round. That's how I get the photos of them sitting on my hands.

I sure hope these are reunited, owner and bird.

Oh, no! So sad.

Actually, not so sad. I think it's a joke. I know if I lost my dog I would draw something more than a stick figure. I might even include a photo.

Did you call the number? There might be a funny message. In Union Square once there was a sign like that for a lost sock and the number had a funny message.

oops, it's a "Found" poster and not a "Lost" poster. But still, the finder could use a digital image if they really wanted to find the owner, right?

They should have written what type of bird, shouldn't they? I hope bird and owner are reunited.

I lost my mind a long time ago....still looking for it.

When I saw this I thought the same as you, how did they know it was lost?! Its a really good poster too! It looks like the bird drew it himself!

And who says we New Yorkers aren't warm and caring?

LOL! Love the drawing! Or is that a photo of the bird? =P

You would think they would at least say what sort of bird it is...unless that's what they're going on for someone to ID the bird? *shrugs* Well I dunno.

lol. It looks like an ostrich, so it's probably easy to find!

What a strange sign!

Maybe his bird was Big Bird.

Yes, and I'm very annoyed with myself. I lost a receipt for something I bought at IKEA, and I need to return it. I'm fairly sure they won't take it back without a receipt, too. D'oh!

Did they look in your grocery bag?

I think what happens is these lost birds get exhausted and they don't know how to forage for food or find water so they collapse on a sidewalk somewhere and since they aren't really afraid of humans you can capture them easily.... But people that own birds and don't clip their flight feathers and leave the windows open don't deserve to have the bird back, IMHO...
