Union Square From Above

Here is another view of Union Square from the 6th floor of Filene's Basement (discount retailer) on 14th Street. It was taken last Sunday afternoon when I was there to buy some new pillows for the apartment. Normally, the area would be crawling with people but it was surprising sparse that afternoon.

Notice the funny looking hat structure on the bottom left? That is the entrance to the subway station for the N, W, R, Q, L, 4, 5 and 6 trains. Yes, it is one of the major interchange for the NYC subway system.

So what did you have for dinner last night? I had skirt steak with chimichurri verde at a Peruvian restaurant in East Village.

Nice shot, Ming. Union Square does look strangely empty. (I went to a backyard BBQ in Queens, and had a hot dog with the works -- de-lish but evil.)

I like this place because my friends live very close to, on 14th street, I miss them...
Yesterday evening, my daughter cooked a "Thaï" chicken, with peanuts butter, soya sauce, little onions and hot red pepper, yummy! (miam! in French)
Have a good Sunday, Ming!

Hi Ming! You missed 08.08.08 at Blogtrotter, but you’re still in time to get to a non-resident view of NYC and compare…
Have a great Sunday!

Can you tell us the name of the restaurant? And was the food good?

great job taking a photo through the windows. There's often so much reflection with the glass.

we had a delicious pizza, beer and salad from our favorite italian place nearby.

Great photo of Union Square.
We are in the middle of the Edinburgh Festivals at the moment and I had a late night dinner of nachos and beer after the International Book Festival Opening Party.
Last time I was in Union Square back in May I had some fantasic seafood at the Blue Water Grill. What a great restuarant that is.

Ming,
You eat way better than I do, that's for sure. Mine was too boring to mention. Like your aerial view today, nice!

Ming man

thanks for your Marcel commment. For him that was a chilled look. His mom was right behind him. Otherwise, he would never let me get that close. Hope you are having a good weekend!

I had the feeling you must be much higher than you said for this shot. Super shot. I do like that 'hat' for the subway.

Dinner last night? spinach and ricotta tortellini with a salad and a glass of Chilean white.

I like your photo and the subway station.

I was intrigued by your dinner.

Do you ever just eat at home or is it always eating out for you? I don't recall a post about what you fixed last night for your dinner.

Love the shot....Union Square almost empty? Wow - even on a Sunday. Those clouds and gorgeous blue sky draw me. Looking at smog today in LA.

Grilled chicken on the bbq....boring but healthy I guess.

Ming -- I'm trying to put this where you'll find it. Finally spoke with the friend who took me for dim sum yesterday, to find out where we went. This is the
dim sum restaurant
Hope this works—if you go (and you should (btw, I'm told it's dim sum until 3 PM, seafood after that.)

Sparse? That's still a lot of people to a country girl like me, LOL!

What did I have for tea (or as you call it...dinner)? Umm, steak and veggies at home actually. Quite boring but I'm so sick of takeaway it's not funny!

Ming doesn't cook.

My husband made pastelon... it's a puertorican dish with beef or chicken, amarillos (yellow plantains),cheese and other ingredients... you can have it solo or with rice and beans, among other choices.

have fun!,
