Battery Park Rooftops

This photo shows the various rooftop apartments in buildings at Battery Park near the Staten Island Ferry Terminal on the southern tip of Manhattan. Top floor apartments and penhouses maybe wonderful (no one stomping on the floor upstairs) but the electricity bills can be signicantly higher than (sometimes double) apartments on the middle floors. However, if one can afford penhouses like those, electricity bills are probably not a huge concern.

So how is your weekend going?

this is a cool nearly monochromatic photo with just a touch of red in the corner.
This weekend has been hectic, going by too fast! How about your weekend Ming?

I would prefer the ground floor with huge store windows open to the passing parade of people. I could open my drapes every morning and see a crowd of smiling faces looking in my window watching me with my sleepy eyes, and wrinkled PJs wander off to the bathroom. I think it would be nice then to go into the living room and look out to see more smiling faces watching me to see what I watch on television. You couldn't buy that kind of performance on the top floors in spite of the amount of money you might be willing to spend. No. I will take the bottom floor with the store front windows every time.

Well I maybe I don't want the penthouse view. Abe's scenario soundsgreat, like living in the NBC set of the Today Show. Why do I have the tune from Green Acres stuck in my head now???

does ivanka trump have her own penthouse up there or something?

are the bills higher simply because of the location? I live on a top floor in an old tenement, and it is harder to heat in the winter. Great angle! We're you flying? :)

Very cool photo. I want to live in a penthouse one day. Weekend went by too fast.

What a view they must have! That'll help take their minds of the bills :)

Kenmac, that's what I meant. It's hard to keep it cool during summer because the sun bakes the roof all day long. And keeping it warm during winter is rough too because of the wind and exposed surface area.

My friend who lives on the top floor of her building pays three times as much for electricity as I do.

Very cool pic.

Friday was pretty fun.
Saturday was lots of fun.
Sunday blew. Chunks. Repeatedly. AND no, not because Saturday involved drinking. It didn't.

Thanks for asking, my weekend went very well. The hilight of which was getting to go up on the 32nd floor deck of the Foshay Tower in Minneapolis Downtown on Saturday night with some other Twin City bloggers. Its only one of a half-dozen open-air observitories in the US ! Photos all week for that trip being posted. Come see!
On the subject of your photo:
I want one of them penthouses! I dont care what the bill is. I want the view.
