Fishs Eddy

This eclectic store north of Union Square called, Fishs Eddy stocks some of the most colorful and interesting housewares I have ever seen. As you can see in the photo, there are a lot of fun and interesting stuff to buy here including porcelain hand molds from glove manufacturers (yesterday's photo), wooden shoe molds (not shown in this photo), cake pedestals, discontinued hotel chinaware, milk jars, old paintings, etc.

So is there anything in this store you would like to have?

I feel like you posted this just for me Ming! ( I know,I know, a girl can dream...)
I absolutely LOVE this store! I have purchased a few small items here over the years and still regard them as my favorite little treasures. I am so glad this place is still around.

PS I just enlarged the photo and I see the store looks exactly the same. Now I want to go browse and do some early, dare I say... Christmas shopping.

Ceramic hands, of course :)

I wanted the hands you showed yesterday. In fact, I purposely stayed out of here after our wonderful get-together so I wouldn't be tempted—then went and spent too much money around the corner at B&N instead!

Yes.

Oh, wait. Did you want me to eliminate a few things?

So that's where it went!! I was so sad when the one on the Upper West Side closed down..I thought it was gone for good. I'm so there next weekend!

Danger, danger. That's a place where I could spend a lot of money.

I would definitely grab the only one red cake pedestal left!

dans ce style de magasin, je suis comme un éléphant dans un magasin de porcelaine, je n'ose plus bouger. Je préfère les librairies, moins dangereux
in this style of store, I am as an elephant in a china store, I do not dare to move any more. I prefer bookshops, less dangerous

Kitchenware!

Yes...choice! That's what's so great about a store like this. Where I live there is very little variety or selection. You get whatever is in style currently, like it or not!

Reminds me of carnival games prizes. So many dishes!!

Certainly a lot of nice stuff, but as I recently moved to smaller flat, I would rather like to get rid of things!

A lot of stuff is right. I never can get through one of these kinds of places without walking out with something I have fondled and paid for.

I know this may sound strange but I'd like a cake stand. I think cakes always look even more tasty on them!

The original Fish Eddy store used to be located on Broadway in the W70ies on the UWS. It closed a few years ago. I'm surprised to see it in Gramercy. It is definitely the same store but on the closed location, I remember they were mentioning being now a product line at Bed Bath & Beyond (or something equivalent).
I used to go often in that store but never bought a thing. I found their plates/cups/etc too tick. But I think I would now go there if I need a hand! ;)

Yep-the red cake plate for the holidays. Actually, I love colored glass. This place would be so bad on my wallet!

Great photo and interesting shop.

yknow I always go into this store and never buy anything?

I'm attracted to all the pure stuff, but can never select just one item from the sea to buy. It's odd.

Yes.... everything.

Can you pick up a few of those red wine glasses for me, please? I could use some white wine glasses, too, for that matter. :-)
