Kayaking on the East River

This photo was taken from the pier at Long Island City two Saturdays ago at about 8:15 AM. I noticed this guy kayaking alone on the East River. Who on earth wakes up that early to go kayaking on a Saturday morning?!?!?!

In the background of the photo, you can see the Queensborough Bridge that links Queens to Manhattan. You can also notice some weird splotches in the sky. Those are dust particles from the INSIDE of my camera lense. ARGH!! It's an old camera so I think it's time for me to get a new one.

So what time do you usually wake up on Saturday morning?

Well my answer to the first and second question are mostly the same. Who gets up at 8:15 to photograph the dude in the kayak?? Now that I am retired, I get up, but after I check my blog and all of yours...... well let's say I am a tad lazy these days and leave it at that. Gorgeous photo. We need to talk about your next camera. I think it's time for you to play with the big boys.

Lovely capture - love the lacey Queensborough Bridge. And my camera is only a little over a year old and has the same dust particles!

cela doit être grandiose, faire du canoë dans NYC, cela doit donner une sensation très forte. J'aimerais bien.

this should be grandiose, canoe in NYC, this should give a very strong feeling. I would.

This is a great photo Ming. You are always at the right place at the right time.
I know a lot of athletic people who do stuff like the kayaking guy in your photo. On a rare occasion I join them, but mostly I like to get up early on a Saturday morning so I can do something creative like write or paint or photograph things.

Saturday morning is much the same as Monday through Friday mornings to a lazy bum like me!! Although today (Thursday) I was up early for Tai Chi, then to the hairderssers for a cut, then home for breakfast, then this afternoon I go Scottish Country Dancing and this evening I'll be at a music selection meeting for our local variety show.
Tomorrow I'll be back being a lazy bum.

In the fall, actually starting this Saturday I'm up early to go to the Farmers Market. But May through September I sleep in. It's too hot to wake up early.

I didn't know 8:15 existed on Saturday mornings! Does that answer your question?!

Just clean your lens Ming.... I think your camera takes FINE photos.

My son went kayaking on the Hudson 2 weeks ago.

Great shot, Ming. Next time we visit, we have to go across the bridge for another view!

Saturday is a day to sleep til you feel like getting up. So for me, it depends whats happening that day. Tomorrow there's a good possibility of camping so hopefully it'll be about 7 a.m.! But who knows? Thats the beauty of Saturdays! Love you'r shoe shot, and love the blue water on the kayaker. Yes, he is a dedicated (nuts?) guy to get up that early and do it!!
Ming, have a great weekend. And sleep in!!
