Benches at Madison Square Park

Here is another photo for my Park Bench series but unlike the other photos that were taken at Central Park, these were from Madison Square Park in midtown. I noticed the benches at both parks have the same design and most of them have metal plates on the back rests describing the financial contributions from and/or dedication to people who have passed on.

So do you have a favorite place or bench to sit on when you have some time to relax?

belle perspective et puis j'adore les bancs de central park, car quand on a marché pendant des heures dans le park, on est content de pouvoir se reposer en mangeant un bretzel chaud

beautiful perspective and then I love central park benches because when we walked for hours in the park, we are pleased to rely on eating a hot pretzel

we have the same plaques on benches here, too.

i like the way the line of the benches leads you into the image.

Awesome shot, I really enjoyed MSP when we were in New York this past summer. Thanks for sharing!

Cheers!

Nothing like that here in the centre of town... I relax having a tea or a coffee in one of my favourite cafes.

I guess a lot of cities have to ask for donations for non-basic services.

The sofa at home! It's old and battered but everyone sleeps very well on it. I can't get rid of it even if I wanted to, so it'll just get some plumping up and new clothes this month. :)

How about this. I will take some park benches in Paris pour vous mon ami!! i am sure I will be "resting" a lot-ha. At home, I like to sit on my patio in the back and read. If I could get off the computer, I could do it more often. The weather is fabulous right now.

Actually, this very spot was it -- when the kids were little and we lived 2 blocks from this park.
So thanks, Ming -- and great photo!

the park looks so clean & the bench so welcoming.
there is nothing like sitting on a NY bench just watching the world go by.

I sat on 1 of these benches last spring. Not so very special when you are a New Yorker. But I'm living in The Netherlands.

Ming, I really like the concept of the photo with the benches leading you into the park. Does Bryant Park have something like this also?

Doris, no Bryant Park does not have this kind of benches. But it does have beautiful green foldable cafe-style chairs and little matching tables.

That looks like such a nice park.

My usual favorite place to sit and relax is my couch.

It reminded me of Central Park first and then I realized it is Madison (where I spend much more time!). THe park bench series is a great idea. I never sit on park benches - I am always rushing somewhere.

Yeah, my butt! Wherever I can plunk it!

I love walking near the White House on a quiet, crisp evening.

I feel this overpowering urge to roll a ball down through the tunnel of armrests. Good thing this is just a picture.

When the weather and temperature is nice, I like to sit out on my front porch. But that will have to wait until springtime.

Time to relax? What is that?

:o)

These plates seem also to be a British custom. I believe that here the benches are not sponsored.

Yes, I have some benches in "my" park, where I like to sit down with a book now and then. However, it depresses me a little bit, surrounded by almost only other retired! Am I also that old?

Mad Sq Park is one of my favorite parks. I worked near there for five years.
Hard to believe it used to be very dumpy. It's so upscale now!

I sit with Wally in Stuyvesant Park, but it's not nearly as clean as Madison Square.
