Compost Only

This 'compost only' bin is one of a few that are placed at edge of the Green Market at Union Square for people to empty out their compostable trash. For a list of compostable items, click here for more information.

So do you compost or recycle?

I like the community compost idea. I don't do it at home, but recycling solids is fun and easy here in Willits. 8^)

We do both. The recycling laws here are very strict and since the family has a farm it just makes sense to use our waste for fertilizer.

In some cities, people actually take the lids off and eat the garbage.

Thanks for visiting my blog in Brookville, Ohio where it is cold this morning – 13 degree Fahrenheit = -10.5555556 degree Celsius.

I never knew the markets did this. What a great idea.
Yes I have a large composter in my back yard. I hate trudging out there to dump stuff in the winter but I feel guilty if I don't. Besides the black "gold" you get when it breaks down makes my garden extra pretty!

We try to make a difference of what to put on the green, yellow... etc bins, but we are not perfect. (Obviously the same with the New Yorkers!)

We have had a compost bin for over 20 years. It is black gold for our veggie garden. Learned from my Dad.

I send to recycle.

Today my husband finished building our second composting drum. It's kind of satisfying to carry out the "compostables" at the end of the day, slinging them in, and then rolling the drum. I feel like I'm playing bingo.

Oh yum! Thanks for sharing :)

We compost ... or to be more truthful, my wife insists on composting. We also recycle with all paper and plastic going in one bin while yard waste goes in another and garbage in yet another bin. Complicated!

I live in Ontario and our municipality has developed a green bin initiative which is getting a lot of attention. Some people absolutely despise these things, it does take extra effort but I'm willing to lift a lid a throw my food scraps in there. It really is minimal effort for a great initiative.

I wish everyone did this... And I wish the city of New York would get a better recycling program...

I recycle.

Don't you need worms for composting?
