Best Photo of the Year 2008

I chose this photo as the best of the year because (1) it was taken with my new camera, which I got last month, (2) it was a serendipitous scene when the woman walked into my line of view, and (3) it was snowing yesterday and this photo relays the scene outside my apartment.

This month, 151 bloggers participated in the theme photo: best photo of the year 2008. Click here to view thumbnails for all participants.

Is this the 40th Street el station? This is a wonderful shot. I like the blurred motion of the woman, the snow drifting through the light in the upper left and especially the red-amber umbrella, which nails the shot.

Happy 2009 to you and all of Sunnyside.

I like it a lot, Ming. I like the fact that she seems to be walking in the opposite direction of the foot prints, and because I love station shots in general as well as people in motion, night and snow shots. But don't you just love the color and tilt of the umbrella, the mystery of her not seeing you/you not seeing her face?
I'm curious what your new camera is and how you are liking it? I made a new purchase this year that I've been very pleased with, and am now looking to pick up a used full frame camera for wide angle shots.
I hope you have a wonderful 2009 and many opportunities to get out and shoot NYC for us! Happy New Year,
-Kim

I like this one but my favorite of yours is the one for Theme Day: Metal. It was the first time I ever visited your blog and I thought it was, and still is, spectacular.

Beautiful. It reminds me of that famous b/w snow scene with the red umbrella. I think it's for sale on the NY Times store.
